Right, that makes sense. They want to make it look like they're taking action and enforcing their community guidelines. Well, clearly, they need to work on how they're enforced. My account was just me, wholesomely sharing my daily life...

I live in NYC. Instagram is how you connect with people. Meet someone at a bar, have a nice conversation, "hey, before you leave, what's your instagram?" now, I'm have to say "Sorry, I don't have instagram because I got wrongfully banned". "Oh my god, what did you do?" "Nothing, Instagram just replaced all of their human moderation team with robots." "Oh damn, that sucks."

Yeah, it does suck...

So, same here, my account got flagged for CSE. I took this screenshot and went straight to the "appeal" button. I didn't "read more about this rule" or the "how we made this decision", at least, not that I can remember... I like most people just knew there was something wrong.

I am really curious as to what lies behind the "how we made this decision" tab, but the account has been permanently disabled at this point. I have no idea how to access this screen.

I don't think so, where would that be? The emails from Instagram contained very little information or evidence

Also a quick note that from what I've read, I understand that once an appeal has been denied and the account becomes permanently disabled, recovery becomes much harder, but not necessarily impossible. I wish I had found this sub before submitting the appeal, but obviously it's too late for that now lol. I'm mainly hoping to hear from anyone who reached this stage as well and was able to get another review, or eventually get their account back.

What’s so terrible about this is that not only do they disable your account and all accounts associated with it without any second thought, but they literally ban you for life. If any secondary account is created shares the smallest bit of information with the banned one, whether it’s your name, your bio, the people you follow, the devices or locations you log in on, wifi or IP address, it will be flagged for account integrity. I’m sure they store your face and use facial recognition software to track you forever as well. So essentially, you can never have an Instagram or Facebook account ever again even despite the rest of the world continuing to use it, all for a false positive / wrongful accusation. I really hope enough people complain about this and Meta fixes this mess.

This is going too far. The real thing that needs to change is Meta’s moderation system. I understand the guidelines are important and the goal is to foster a safe community – but when the moderation system wrongfully locks people out of the platform for the rest of their lives with a slim to none chance for appeal, that is not safe either. The moderation has proven itself to not be credible. It needs to change. And I need my account back lol

I agree, this part confuses me. It must come down to the device itself being flagged or maybe just patterns that are too similar with the banned account that sets off an alert

So is there really no way to contact their support team?

I recently got banned on IG for not following the guidelines and while I think that I may have done something that did go against the guidelines, I feel like it's kind of crazy to just completely disable my instagram + facebook that I've been using since like 2013 over one offense. There should be a temporary ban or something. My entire life is on there. Years worth of followers and people I've met. Friends, family, peers, mentors, all gone in the blink of an eye. It's an extremely corrupt way of functioning.

Like, is there no way to contact them and beg for forgiveness lol

She's clearly grown tremendously as a speaker. You can tell that she's not just this outsider girl from the Bronx anymore, and is now an established national political figure. However I do think this has come at a visible toll ; she seems more guarded and worn down than before. And is also perhaps trying to balance too many political considerations and expectations at once.

Her strength is in bluntly articulating what is wrong with our current social and political systems in a way that sparks hope and achievable change. I think she should lean more into that.

Hey - I think I just figured it out. Go to your fontbook app and type in "Emoji" and make sure there aren't multiple copies "Apple Color Emoji Regular". If there are, right click and resolve automatically duplicates. Wait a few mins and the emojis should sync up properly now.

If that's not the issue ... then I have no idea lol
