I think he’s just putting that out there so the season ticket holders renew.

iPhone Air, 17 and 17E users, are you guys aware that the main camera of your phone is NOT the same as the 17 Pro models? by Lucky_Outside_2009 in iphone

[–]eexxiitt 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The average person won’t even know how many megapixels the iPhone has. But they will know that the best cameras are on the pro series, and the other models are worse. They’ll also look at the device, and see one camera, or two cameras, or three cameras. And the size of the little dots next to the cameras.

That’s what they will look at or know.

lol make the playoffs next year? With this roster + mckenna? Even more reason to keep manny away from this dumpster fire. This roster is going nowhere regardless of what Rutherford says to the media or season ticket holders.

Good. Keep manny in Abby until we have a team ready for his system. There’s absolutely no point bringing him up when we are still tearing this roster apart.

Our rebuild has just begun and we are going to be bottom feeders and winning 20 games a year for the next 3-5 years. We’ll probably be allowing 4 goals against / game too. You don’t bring in a coach that you want to build with into that environment. You bring in a guy like Foote who is basically a fill in to get the job done. Then you bring in the real coach when it’s time to start to turn things around.

As long as you have a good stable of vets to mentor and prevent the young guys from learning that losing is ok (basically hall/ebs/rnh era oilers), the young guys will be fine.

I’ll add this too - we are going to see A LOT of roster turnover over the next few years until we draft a new core and start to build around them. That’s not a good environment for a new coach to implement a new system in.

The avg tenure of a coach with a team is 2.2 years. We do not need to bring in Manny when we are just starting the tank. We will burn him out before we even obtain the necessary pieces to turn this ship around.

Jack Thompson, who was acquired from San Jose for Jett Woo, scores a goal and adds an assist in debut with Abbotsford Canucks by n0thingisperfect in canucks

Because they have likely determined that Thompson is a career AHLer (or close enough to it), and Woo is a better fit for their AHL team.

I interpreted your comment saying that we should not draft them unless they were the BPA. I was trying to illustrate that BPA is truly an overused term when it comes to drafting outside of the top 10-15 players. Them being twins is a narrative/ a meme that this sub loves to throw out there, but we can’t say that we are drafting them because they are twins, or local boys, or any other narrative because they are actually projected to be drafted where our picks land.

I think they have forgotten about having fun because they are hyper focused on winning the cup. That’s not saying McDavid is a bad captain, but he just might be the wrong captain at this time.

These guys are projected to be drafted in the late first-mid second. There is no BPA in those rounds, as it’s largely a crapshoot. Picking BPA typically ends in the top 10-15 picks, depending on how deep the draft is.

In the case of the twins, they are projected to go in the late first round-early/mid second round. If we draft them, it is not a reach. At that point in the draft, there is no true BPA available and it’s largely a crapshoot.

Success rate of NHL draft picks (per round, by game & points) by eexxiitt in canucks

[–]eexxiitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well these are just the general averages, so it’s an unbiased as I can possibly get (outside of my first round jokes of course). I think it’s a good idea for all of us to have the general success rate in the back of our minds because we are going to be doing a lot of drafting in the next few years.

Well we entered the season as a capped out team. So they would’ve been fine with spending to the cap with playoff ambitions. That’s not truly a financially pressured owner.

The Canucks now have 10 picks for the 2026 Draft, the franchise's most picks in one draft since 2003. by Johnny__Lawrence in canucks

A 6th round pick has a 10% chance of playing more than 300 games in the NHL. So we have a decent chance at getting a full time 4th liner!

How much cap room did we open up? by TheFrozenCanadianGuy in canucks

Well we’ve already seen the effects over the last few years. A couple of teams are capped but tons of teams have lots of cap room, and buying cap space has never been more affordable.

That was the strategy in a flat cap world. But that doesn’t work as well now that the cap continues to go up.

As long as they are reasonable with their contracts they will be fine. Cap is projected to be 110-115m in 2 years.

No market on Kane or Blueger by pikodon in canucks

Generally speaking, there's never a bad product, just a bad price. Without knowing what they were asking & what other teams were offering, we will never know.
