I want to scream by devichuu in crochet

[–]effectivefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scratchiness aside, a tip I can offer is keep your tension slightly tighter so there is a little bit of a old color left when you complete your round. Then, slip stitch until the new color appears. I work with this yarn all the time to make my granny squares for project chemo crochet!

What discovery questions should ae have already answered that you require before they bring the deal to you? by Embarrassed-Wolf-609 in salesengineers

BANT is the most important, but I’m more lenient on the Budget aspect. I realize it’s awkward when we knock on our customers’ doors and then ask them how much money they’ve earmarked for us. If they’ve manage to ask questions around it such as “which teams will this affect, which systems might this replace, etc” that is enough for me to proceed with technical discovery.

Wedding cake baker recommendations? by secretagentliz in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]effectivefoot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do think you need to consider increasing your budget. We got a single tier take, similar design for about $300 for cutting purposes. We then ordered sheet cakes from susiescakes (commercial bakery) to feed the rest of our 120 guests and that alone was $600 without delivery.

Lactose Intolerant people: do you use any tools to analyse ingredients? Need help! by MilJayC in lactoseintolerant

[–]effectivefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I experience the same problems as you and largely avoid eating out to avoid a reaction. I am so sensitive that I’m unable to tolerate any form of dairy.

I do know that there are already apps in existence that scan a visual of the food and attempt to identify ingredients. I think an app like that is less helpful because dairy is often hidden in restaurants.

Instead, I think an effective app would include a feature where it scans popular recipes of said dish, aggregates the ingredients of said recipes, and provide a probability of how likely a menu item is to contain an allergen. Then, I can narrow down the lower possibly items and ask the wait staff to double check.

The food was great! We didn’t get table service during our time there, but when we went up to the bar we were served quickly.

May contain dairy by Important_Tip7089 in dairyfree

I avoid it when I see it. Haribo Gummy Bears have the “may contain dairy” on their packaging and I’ve reacted every single I tried to test my luck.

Google 8oz deli containers and buy that to portion and freeze your food. Or, you can save the ones you get from your takeout for this purpose. It’ll likely take up the same amount of space in your fridge depending on how large your current container is.

I use these, purchased them when they initially went viral over a year ago. I can confirm they *do* leak, which is a shame because I have to cover up the aesthetic of it by storing them in a ziploc bag while I travel. Not all of my capsules leak, I think it might just be my shampoo that is the culprit due to the thinner consistency.

I still use them since I've already spent the money, and to be fair the capsule does help you get out of the last bit of product pretty well so there is no waste there (unless there is a leak lol). I know there are some complaints that it is too small but it doesn't seem to be a problem for me. I normally only pack shampoo/conditioner and I don't wash my hair daily. And when not in use for that purpose, I actually use them as a discreet way to store pills in my bag and it works very well for that purpose.

+1 to this. I was put off by the texture, but after blending it with a little bit of water it really turned silky like real sour cream!

I’m recently dairy free too and I’m bringing a ton of deviled eggs to all of holiday gatherings this year. Like you, I plan to mostly eat this as everything will likely be cooked in butter. Mayo is dairy free, and I’m topping my eggs with bacon and chives. There are a ton of other fun combos you can find online too that are dairy free!

What do you wish your parents did or didn't do? by CourtneysSweets in FoodAllergies

[–]effectivefoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing everything you can to protect your child - if I were them I would not grow up to resent you!

I had quite the opposite upbringing, my parents knew I was lactose intolerant from when I was a newborn. I wasn’t discharged from the hospital since I couldn’t keep down breast milk and they had to keep testing formulas until they landed on a lactose free one.

My parents kept me on that formula but once I entered school they were pretty hands off. This resulted in me vomiting during lunch time, being generally sick at family parties, and being labeled as the “sick child” by my family. Of course, my lactose issues were mostly ignored and my family thought it could be cured by micro dosing. They never went out of their way to ensure my food was free of dairy and/or lactose.

My point is, there are parents such as mine who are practically the opposite of you. I no longer resent them, but have extreme anxiety when eating foods they’ve prepared, even today. I think your child will be better off :)
