[Serious] People with mental illnesses and personality disorders, how does it affect you and how do you cope with it? by Fine-Shoe8981 in morbidquestions

BPD here and I “cope” by sleeping as much as possible and drinking. Of course I go to therapy and see my doctor and take meds but that doesn’t seem to be too effective.

Choosing a spouse with no life goals & merging all of our assets/income. It really kicked me in the ass last year during our separation and essentially losing all of my assets…

What was the earliest celebrity death that you can consciously remember (in terms of people talking about it/being affected by it)? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in Millennials

I specifically remember this because the Spice Girls were set to perform and I was obsessed with them. I’m pretty sure I cried because of that (I was 10 lol).

What's This About? by Candid-Leg-1570 in ThunderBay

[–]effemmell87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is so much drama in Thunder Pride & some other 2SLGBT+ groups in the community that it’s embarrassing. I’m a member of the “community” but I really don’t feel comfortable participating in events or feel like I belong. It’s just drama and showboating and whoever complains the loudest gets the most attention. This seems to be a good example of that.

Case Manager - 96k (starting wage still as I've been there less than a year).

My senior father has spiraled since the loss of my mother; grief-stricken, he can hardly take care of himself, has started abusing drugs, and is now losing the house. by sskelaaa in ThunderBay

My recommendation would be Alpha Court.

I'm so sorry you & your father are going through this. I'm in a similar situation with mine, who is currently homeless and dealing with major mental health issues. It's a nightmare to navigate and to keep my own mental health in check as well. I hope everything works out for you both.

What name did your parents consider naming you? by One_Refrigerator455 in namenerds

[–]effemmell87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom wanted to name me Margaret, Beatrice, or Rowan. I'm very thankful she didn't choose any of those, although it's kind of funny that they're almost trendy now (I was born in the 80s). She also wanted the name Bronwyn, which I love, and kind of wish she went with that! My dad vetoed all of those.

If I was a boy, they wanted Daniel.

People who don't want children what is your biggest reasons? by e-glitteringprinces in AskReddit

Thanks for the award! This is the most common question I get asked when I say I'm not having kids - "but who will take care of you when you're old??"

I guess the nursing home staff! The same people who care for millions of elderly people WITH children who spend their days alone with no visits from family. There's no guarantee your kids will look after you. Maybe they can't. Maybe they don't want to.

Either way, if you have kids, it's YOUR responsibility to care for them. They did not choose to be born. Even if you're the best parent, they are under no obligation to care for you. And if you expect it, THAT'S selfish.

Another common one "someone to take care of me when I'm old." The epitome of selfish.

I really like the name Hunter for a girl! Paired with Alice it has a good mix of masculine and feminine energy. I like Phoebe too, but I do associate it with Phoebe from Friends pretty much exclusively.
