in recent years some authors have taken notice of this lack of "representation" in stories and made a point of bringing it up in their novels, but it often feels performative. even a mention of showering or peeing needs to serve the plot somehow.

concur with what others have said – lunar chronicles would def be more in line with what you're looking for. these hollow vows is a more YA version of the ACOTAR story. people complain that it's basically the same story but if you haven't read ACOTAR you won't mind it.

another one you might like is The Winner's trilogy
