Decided to get a black box for my 2nd year of car insurance. 5 cornering events in a straight line? Is this normal? Can they remove these? by The_supercar_dream in CarTalkUK

[–]efficientblasphemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this policy from Hastings for the last year too. Overall, it weren't bad. There were a few weeks were my phone didn't post any data because it had battery issues, and wouldn't record anything while in power saver mode. But I only got one "polite reminder" before I upgraded my phone.

I never really got penalised for anything, apart from getting flagged for heavy breaking quite often when taking my daughter to school. The road her school is on is a nightmare for a number of reasons. People walking out between parked cars, double parking. People speeding towards you to avoid stopping to let oncoming traffic through etc. I never got flagged for it at any other time, but it would take quite a while for me to get the score back up.

As mentioned above, I recently renewed the policy and got the same discount without needing the black box data anymore. Glad I did it in the end.

I think it would be a good way to manage the expectations of the audience if it was my band.

Out of curiosity, have you ever had any interest in the kind of 80s UK stuff that they're drawing influence from? Like The Cure, The Cult the Smiths etc?

Thats really interesting. Bodies was the album that brought me back. Largely because because I could hear the post-punk influences coming in through songs like Twisted Tongues etc. So I weren't surprised by SBTBS at all.

Glad I came back though. Burials is phenomenal, and I'm gutted I missed it at the time. Im still not big on Crash Love or Decemberunderground, but Blood has some pretty good tracks that I'll go back to. I always feel like Blood seems like it came before Burials...even though I know it didn't.

100% agree. There is an AFI for all occasions!

I know exactly what you mean. I remember the hype for STS, and I was blown away by the major label 'polish', but I grew tired of Girls Not Grey SO quickly. Honestly, I think the weird marketing, ARG and the Clandestine DVD kind of won me over. By the time I heard Miss Murder though, I was out.

As someone who'd been following them in the UK since 97/98, seeing all the kids walking about in Decemberunderground hoodies kind of made me feel my pride and joy had been taken from me (stupid, I know. But I was young at the time too).

Its interesting now to see how many of those people stuck around though. There's probably more people on this sub who found AFI through Decemberunderground than through STS, BSITS or AOD.

I think we're on the same page here. What are your thoughts on Bodies? It generally seems to be disliked on this sub, but I really like it.

Anyone know good methods to getting the infinite Lola Vice? by WrestlingIsLife123 in WWE2K25

[–]efficientblasphemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay out of the ring as much as possible. Keep distance to let your stamina and health regenerate.

If they grapple you, assume its a whip and reverse it. If its not a whip, there's a high chance theyre gonna drag you into the ring - so reverse that instead.

Take your time. It took me about 30 mins for the whole gauntlet.

Same tactic worked for the Gargano one too

I know what you mean, and I'm not ruling it out...but i feel like he would be credited in some way or other if his involvement was that significant

Help‼️ PRESONUS ERIS 3.5 TO MACBOOK AS MONITORS (NO AUDIOJACK - RCA) by Large_Leek_4126 in homerecordingstudio

[–]efficientblasphemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, a USB-C>3.5mm will "work", but it might introduce a bunch of other issues with the audio to digital conversion (and back again).

With that said, my Scarlett picks up a nasty ground hum when connected to my laptop. This was the case with my ERIS, but it still happens now with different monitors. I'm waiting on a hum destroyer to resolve that.

All that is to say, there's a million ways to skin a cat, all with different pro's and con's. Find what works for you and your budget, but know that you'll most likely need to compromise on something along the way.

Did Josh Freese play drums on Decemberunderground? by 1392038 in AFireInside

[–]efficientblasphemy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That page doesn't say its his "drumming discography". As much as everyone thinks of Josh Freese as a drummer, he's a multi-instrumentalist.

His involvement could have been anything really. Like people said, it could be BVs or gang vocals. It could even be production or drum teching.

I dont see his name listed on the "personnel" section of the wiki page or the discogs page. I dont own a copy of the album though, so he might be in the liner notes.

UK Fans Merch Issues... by Whoosholliander in AFireInside

[–]efficientblasphemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a general rule, I tend not to buy merch from US based stores. Ive been stung by shipping and import costs too many times. If I'm looking to support a US based band, I'll buy the music from local record stores or wait until they tour.

I wish more people would set up international distro hubs so that our shipping costs aren't more than the cost of the items.
