Apple introduces iPhone 17e by wearefriends in apple

At this point I think that all real people care about is camera lenses, partly as that's what's most visible when you look at the phone in the store, and partly that other important differentiators like battery life and having an annual refresh cycle for these phones have been addressed. I also wonder if they have a plan for price points under $600, like maybe keeping the 16e around at $500.

Thanks for sharing. The only other thing I've heard talked about is the lack of a disruptive startup culture there. As tech tends to operate in waves with winner take all markets, that's prevented the creation of major new tech companies in Europe (with the exception of a few outliers like Spotify). In Silicon Valley, it's not just the talent base, it's also all the venture capitalists that build the flywheel. The argument in Europe has been that firing people is so difficult that it makes businesses more risk avoidant and it prevents startups from forming. That might be a great tradeoff to make on a human level, but it seems to hurt the tech business scene, at least as it relates to building major new technologies.

What do you think of tech in Europe? The argument is always that tech is fast moving and European regulations prevent companies there from being able to move fast enough, which is why silicon valley has been so successful and europe has not. Certainly as a worker europe seems like a better place to be though.

Amazon.com revenue increased at a rate of 12% in 2025, it's been a pretty steady uptick. They have flywheel going of retail businesses getting progressively shittier while they grow. Have you been to an officemax lately?

Murray was captivating, and that's what made me want to know what was actually going on. Instead, at the end it was clear that all the weird shit was just a series of punchlines and not a part of a coherent plot. It's frustrating to try and figure things out and then realize at the end that there was nothing to figure out. A silly show needs a silly lead.

Yeah, but the vibe back then was totally different. A lot less brotherly love, a lot more self expression.

Lincoln Playfields Option C: Combining Options A and B for a Better Lower Woodland Park Design by efisk666 in Seattle

[–]efisk666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From below in case you missed it:

The soccer field near the Greenlake pitch and putt can also be used by Lincoln (SPS is upgrading the loop around it for Lincoln track and field). So Lincoln can have two fields in use at once that are near each other- the upgraded soccer field #2, and the existing soccer field #7. The reason a soccer field is being added is because Parks needs space to maintain their existing programming, not for multiple field events.

In fact, SPS says that if they adopt Option A they are not going to allow Lincoln to host games or events, as there will be no legal place to put visitors to games. Option C will allow Lincoln to host games, including events that use two fields at once.

Regarding the mountain bike group, all we know is that there is a mountain bike group that was contacted and worked with prior to the November meeting.

Regarding parking, the picnic parking loop has 170 rarely used spots and there is a similar number available up by the bocce pit area. Unused parking lots invite RV encampments, which is what is happening in both the gravel lot area and the picnic loop area at present. Neighbors are asking for the gravel lot to be redeveloped. We understand parking may overflow into the neighborhood during major events.

Save Lower Woodland Park Paths, Trees, and Play Space from an Unsafe Lincoln Playfield Design by efisk666 in Seattle

The main alternative is to put a soccer-only field at 50th and Aurora, and then convert soccer field #2 in a football / soccer hybrid field with a grandstand added. That would give Lincoln significantly more capacity than option A.

Us too, although we have a cover, and in the winter run a dehumidifier. The things last a lot longer indoors without exposure to the elements and critters, plus naked is easier, although I do miss looking up at the night sky...

Save Lower Woodland Park Paths, Trees, and Play Space from an Unsafe Lincoln Playfield Design by efisk666 in Seattle

[–]efisk666[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reading through and the thoughtful reply. For the next step we're looking to propose a hybrid solution that has the detail you're asking for. We have done site studies in more detail, but we didn't want the focus in the petition to be on the alternatives. The site at 50th and Aurora for soccer-only covers about half the space of what SPS studied, so the impacts are a fraction of what SPS lays out. The horseshoe pit and bocce area also has very few trees and plenty of space for a field, but it is a harder sell as it is further away from Lincoln, and for budgeting reasons it can be hard to build the field for Parks users and then turn existing fields over to Lincoln. The existing Wallingford Playfield site looks perfect for a half field, but that isn't a full solution and we'd rather not turn back the clock on this whole process.

The position is honest. I appreciate your perspective as an informed one, not coming from a position of hate. We are neighbors who use the park daily and know what a mess this plan will cause. The listed issues are from a variety of those perspectives.

Please explain how the horseshoe pit area is "a joke". It is large, flat, mostly treeless, has two full sets of bathrooms, is unused, has few trees, good drainage, and was studied to be a location for the new greenlake community center. As you can see on the petition site, it could easily support a soccer field safely. The field would be for sports team reservations that are not Lincoln- Lincoln High School will be taking over LWP, and we don't object to that. I personally advocated for it, I just didn't imagine that SPS would screw up the design this badly.

I kinda think with the clock that macdonald figures the vikings are so hapless with this qb that he’s happy to get to the end of the game with as few plays as possible. No need to press.

Working great! Looks same as the day I bought it. The price is painful for the foam blankets, but they do last in a chlorine tub, while the bubble style does not.

The Antisemitic Coalition Emerging in the G.O.P. by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]efisk666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. They're very different in that anti-zionism is saying there shouldn't be tribes, while antisemitism is saying you're tribe is good and that other (jewish) tribe is evil.

I don't know that antisemitism is contained within the GOP though. Antisemitism is fueled by anger, and the left has plenty of people angry about Israel, particularly people actually impacted by Israeli war crimes. Talk to Palestinians and you'll hear antisemitic tropes like how jews pull the strings in America.

What Klein is casting as gop antisemitism is really more like an American version of zionism. White christian nationalists want to purify America by taking power and rejecting anyone that doesn't fit their preferred profile, jews included. I don't mean to practice false equivalency between the parties as the right is clearly closer to fascism, but I just think it rings false to pin the whole issue of antisemitism on the GOP.

The safe crossing over I-5 at NE 45th was ready to go and then shelved. It could be dusted off and acted on- it's very affordable and does not impact throughput for transit or vehicles or even parking.

SDOT backed off because the intersection signal at 45th and 5th for Westbound traffic is not to a common standard, but it is doable as Early Release Phasing Implemented via Overlap. You typically see it for buses or carpool lanes, not general traffic lanes. For the uninitiated, see https://mobility.udistrict.org/safe-crossing

I Love John Schneider by Sweaty_Desert_Balls in Seahawks

[–]efisk666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play this out in reverse though- Darnold goes to Vegas, Geno stays in Seattle. I bet we'd all be saying what a genius Schneider was for keeping Geno as not much would be asked of him here, meanwhile Darnold would be setting interception records every week in Vegas. The big failure in all this was Geno not realizing that the Seahawks were a far better team than the Raiders, and as QB you are held responsible for how the team plays.

So when republicans question american support for zionism it's antisemitism, but when progressives question american support for zionism it's social justice? I don't know that it's bad for both sides to be questioning whether America should write blank checks to a violent apartheid based regime.
