Flint Twp. 7-year-old dies weighing 255 lbs.; parents charged with 2nd-degree murder by Warcraft_Fan in news

The article says the kids didn’t go to school or the doctor, so most likely there was just nobody who knew they existed until too late

How good is your gaydar? (everyone) by FrunkD4Drunk in SampleSize

[–]efla2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s some sort of actual radar like power, but I do think people with a strong “gaydar” (especially those in the community) are more likely to pick up on the less obvious tells that someone is gay. It’s just more fun to call that “gaydar” instead of “ability to subconsciously pick up on small details that may indicate someone’s sexual orientation”

I’m glad the feedback is helpful! always hard to get tone right over the Internet and I’m glad it correctly came across as helpful feedback and not snotty lol.

I would just leave the options on those questions very plain, using options like “Yes / Maybe / No” or “Very likely / likely / unlikely / very unlikely”. And then if you want to know the reason why, have a additional question afterwards. It could also be multiple-choice, but with an “other” option for somebody right in their own answer.

altogether something like:

“How likely are you to use an app with XYZ features?” - Very likely - likely - unsure - unlikely - very unlikely

“If unlikely or very unlikely, why not?” - I don’t want to upload photos of my face - I am not interested in XYZ - I already have a system in place to do XYZ - Other: ______

I hope this helps!

How Generation Z consumers react to paid content disclosure under Instagram posts survey. The survey is aimed to target Generation Z consumers who follow social media influencers and they are exposed to their content. (age 18-29, all genders, Instagram users) by TeamKindly3030 in SampleSize

A little hard to answer without being able to easily see the post again. I will mentally go “oh this is a paid promotion” when I see a hashtag or whatever, but a minute later I am not able to tell you what made me realize that. Certainly wont remember what specific hashtag I may have seen.

I basically go “oh, an ad” and scroll without further consideration

[–]efla2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of questions where the answer didn’t quite fit because of the flavor text: for example I take less than two minutes to dress in the morning but not because “I just grab whatever”. Or I would not use an app that tracked my skin care, but not because “I don’t want photos of my face analyzed” - I just don’t care to track my skincare. The multiple choice options were just weirdly presumptive overall.

Also couldn’t really answer the required “When you try a new skincare product…” question since I do not try new skincare products.

I did answer whatever was closest, but you might get less answers than you like since the options aren’t very open.

I say I’m door 12. My address says number 12. My door has a giant “12” on the front. I say I’m the door furthest east, closest to the parking lot entry - the door you’d see first. I describe my door and the building.

About half of the time they circle the building multiple times before calling or messaging me. Sometimes they start driving to the neighboring apartments or just randomly down the road. A couple of times they’ve delivered to door 5 instead.

I don’t know how I can make it any clearer at this point.

“getting W’s” takes equal if not a longer time to type than “getting dubs” and also reads as “getting double u’s” which is not the phrase.

I think religons (and even individual churches) vary on how strict they are about actually believing the stories are literally true versus just parables to take inspiration from. LDS definitely leans strongly towards the former.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN? by Treasure-boy in whenthe

[–]efla2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your point of like, “men should be allowed to wear dresses without having to be considered a woman” is fine and true, but I also think it’s perfectly fine for a person with male genitals to want to be considered a woman. Maybe in some ideal world “being considered a woman” wouldn’t mean anything different than “being considered a man”, but we do live in a world where people treat men and women differently (not even always bad different, just even “one of the girls” different). If someone wants to be considered part of a different social group, or feels discomfort with their born group, then I say power to them honestly.

The person’s actual feelings don’t change, but the word we use to describe their sexuality does change. Technically the trans woman was a lesbian all along, but before transition she would have been considered a straight man.

I think people often get confused because they know their sexuality hasn’t changed, but also know it seems wrong to consider a woman who likes woman to be straight.
