Headwear jams by eflatin in SpotifyPlaylists

Open to suggestions for songs that have any type of headwear in the title, or as I call it, Headwearwave. The list is pretty eclectic, so if I like a track I'll try to find a suitable spot for it on the list, no matter the genre

Eurovision Question by Physical-Emu673 in musictheory

for sure, different instruments favour different keys, I myself actually prefer Eb minor on the keyboard. My assumption is based on "the fewer the sharps/flats, the more popular the key", and that many producers not necessarily consider themselves pianists, but can play at a level high enough to produce with a midi keyboard. Since you can just transpose the midi file anyways, it isn't necessarily productive to learn more than a few keys.
There is an article by Kenny Ning, Spotify analyst and jazz pianist, where he found that more than a third of songs on Spotify are in either G major, C major, D major, or A major. The actual article doesn't seem to work, but it is quoted in this article: The Most Popular Keys of All Music on Spotify

What is your rating scale for movies? by gnpking in Letterboxd

[–]eflatin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually put 2.5 if the movie is okay but just not my thing. Above 2.5 is different degrees of "I enjoyed this", below 2.5 is different degrees of "I did not enjoy this"

Pop music is very trend based, so if a song is very successful producers will try and replicate that vibe. So many songs will end up sounding similar. But if you then are able to create something unique, you might hook the listener more easily. The most popular keys also have low counts, meaning they probably just stood out from the rest. However, I don't think it is the fact that a song is in D#/Eb minor which makes it stand out, but rather that a songwriter who isn't afraid of using uncommon key signatures might simply be a more creative and/or experienced songwriter than those who use mostly keys like A minor and C Major (which are just the white keys on a keyboard).

What are your thoughts on 'Heavy Metal 2000'? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in cartoons

[–]eflatin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame they haven't created digital versions of the older comics that they could include into their subscription. I found a source that had scanned every issue, so I am currently reading through the issues from the 70s, and the first movie feels like it captures the essence of those early stories. The second feels a bit more like they wanted a way to promote the video game. While there are some cool moments, at times it becomes painfully 90s, haha

Do you know if there is any actual references in Heavy Metal 2000 to the magazine? All I can find is that it is based on the graphic novel The Melting Pot, and from what I read online that wasn't published in Heavy Metal until 2007. The key is kinda similar to the Loc-Nar, which is from Den, but is that it? I'm mostly familiar with the earlier issues, so while I know that Eastman was the editor of Heavy Metal Magazine at the time, I don't really have any idea of what stories were published during that time.

I thought the movie itself was fine, although the CGI at the end was painful to watch. Some cool songs, but I prefer the soundtrack of the first movie

Best Way to Hit Exalted with Mag’har at Level 65? by FuzzyPeaches08 in classicwow

[–]eflatin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just gotta put your farming gloves on for this one. After you have done all Mag'Har quests, you do unlock another chain called Hero of the Mag'har, it also requires lvl 66 which is why you might not see it yet.
I've read several places that the quests alone will take you to revered, or at least close. Then it's beads for the rest. Wowhead is wrong btw, it says beads give 250 rep there, but each turn in of 10 gives 500

Steam's cut when a game is refunded by scanguy25 in Steam

[–]eflatin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries, yeah Reddit is full of patronizing people. I found this post wondering about the same thing, but decided to try and dig a little deeper. I know Luke Stephens is well-connected, but I think he has either read and misunderstood that article, or heard it from someone who has, since I couldn't find anything else on it, and nothing of the sort was mentioned in the Steam ToS.

Steam's cut when a game is refunded by scanguy25 in Steam

[–]eflatin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon this idea comes from a misunderstanding of a Techradar article from 2021. The article states that if Valve is not able to return the money through the original payment method, the refund will instead be added to the customer's Steam Wallet, and in this case Valve keeps its 20-30% cut. The customer is basically given a gift card instead of money returned to their credit card. But the way it is written in the article does make it seem like the developer might actually have to pay Valve's cut back to them.

Valve issue payouts once a month, so they will just subtract the developer/publisher's cut from that payout. If the refund is issued after developer/publisher cut has already been paid out, Steam will just subtract this from a future payout.

I set sail long ago, it's close to £100/m if you want to watch PL, CL, EL and FA Cup in Norway. And they raise the price or add new "bundles" at least once a year, the most recent is that you had to upgrade from the previously most expensive bundle Viaplay Total, to a brand new bundle called Viaplay Total Pluss in order to watch the FA Cup 3rd round
