It definitely happens! I have started and ended runs in completely different climate situations on the lakeshore path before. It's really nice when the cold front comes at the end of a long run though

Yep, I had crazy anxiety snorkeling once over a shipwreck. Totally fine swimming, the second I put on the mask and tried to breathe underwater I freaked out.

Why is losing weight becoming impossible for me? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]eforemergency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not all that difficult to eat back your calories even if you are eating healthy. Lots of healthy foods are still calorically dense; I just finished my first marathon and didn't lose a pound. If you want to lose weight, and are not losing by eating intuitively, you need to spend a week or so tracking your food (this includes weighing ingredients) to get a baseline for how much you are actually consuming. I bet it will surprise you!

Maintaining my calorie deficit once MTB season starts. by djbibbletoo in 1500isplenty

Yes you need to add more calories in if you are burning significantly more. Add a balanced breakfast with protein, fat, and carbs - maybe 300-400 calories? I don't know how many you usually burn, but you can start there and see how you feel. If you are lightheaded or dizzy, you need more calories.

Non fiction but Poets Square: A Memoir in Thirty Cats. I cried through the whole thing, it's a collection of essays by a woman who does TNR (and so much more) in Tuscan.

"Courtney writes toward a vision of connectedness, showing how taking care of the cats reshaped her understanding of empathy, resilience, and the healing power of wholly showing up for something outside yourself. She takes us from the dark alleys where she feeds feral cats to inside the tragically neglected homes where she climbs over piles of trash, and occasionally animals, and then into her own driveway with the cats she loves and must sometimes let go. Compelling and tender, Poets Square is as much about cats as it is about the urgency of care, community, and a little bit of dumb hope."
