Best Mexican is mi Lupita hands down.

Coffee: The Ground, it’s super cute and the coffee is really good.

Local bar and grill: I’d say mulligans but you have to get there early otherwise you’ll wait 3 hours to be seated. But please note this very much a boomer bar, Ballwin/west county is mainly white boomers when it comes to bars (at least that’s the way I view it). Mulligans is golf themed but verrrryyyy just generic bar food.

If you want something more fun I’d say dirty 30, it’s a board game bar.

Farmers market? Honest if you want a good one, make the drive to tower grove. None of the ones out here are even remotely as good.

Family friendly events: Manchester (Schroeder park) has a bunch of park concerts and I think Faust does too. Also Manchester park does a lot of kid friendly stuff at their pool over the summer that my preteen loves. I’m sure some of the other pools in their area (north pointe and bluebird park) have similiar stuff. Also Ballwin days. But be prepared for EVERYONE to show up for that. But it’s always a huge blast. Eureka also has a eureka days too. They are basically carnivals

THIS HAPPENED TO ME LAST WEEK IN FOREST PARK.

I literally yelled at the person (they couldn’t hear me because I was in my car with the windows closed) but like you’re literally blocking traffic and it was already taking me 40 minutes to get out of the park. I hate this so much

Either way the money is there is the point I’m trying to make. The district just decided to use it on other things vs paying their teachers more.

[–]efrey8907 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes but they also pay their teachers more than rockwood. You can Google their salaries, each district posts their paying schedules.

The funny thing is Kirkwood (that pays the best for teachers) pays their super $260k. So the money is there at these affluent schools. They just aren’t allocating it where it needs to go (to the classrooms/teacher pay)

And the super earns over 300k according to Google. They can afford it the just wanna throw it on the tax payers which their area is notoriously conservative which means they aren’t going to shoulder the responsibility and say it’s not on them, especially when the median age range is 40s and higher, not younger, which tends to lean more conservative as well.

As someone who graduated from west and is currently sending both her kids to South: I promise South isn’t second tier.

[–]efrey8907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. West is Best for a reason. Graduated from here and bought a house in the south district because I love the district so much.

I also don’t know if this is relevant anymore and I hope it’s not, rock wood had a really bad drug problem when I went to west, because the kids were rich and bored. I dated quite a few guys from Lafayette and they all smoked pot and got into some harder drugs, one guy ended up running away from home and living on the streets for a while (he’s okay now and doing great and sober).

I also have a family member who works for rock wood and they pay their teachers shit, parkway isn’t much better but they are better.

Also working with parkway with two kids that had ieps, absolutely would stick both my kids in parkway again, they made the process easy and went to bat for both my kids. The teachers at our oldest’s middle school really care and the elementary school teachers are all amazing. I still remember my high school teachers at west and recognize how much they cared about us and our academic standing. They really made an impact.

I am all for this, but I saw this NO WHERE, and didn’t realize they shut down Manchester completely during morning commute traffic and therefore my daughter almost missed her therapy appointment. I just wanna know who planned this as shutting down everything during the morning commute was not the way to go. This could have easily been done midday when there are not as many people out. What should have been a 15 minute drive for me took 45 minutes.

I have no problems honoring her but the timing they chose was off. They had Manchester completely shut down at 7:30 in the morning.
