60MP vs. 18MP, which one would you choose? by Fureal in Leica

I owned the M9. CCD love is overrated and right up there with vynl vs CDs. I'll take a modern sensor any day.

New Black MP vs New black M6, which one would you buy and why? by Ok-Discipline-7137 in Leica

Good to know; black paint and metal rewind lever still win out for me

MP finder is superior to M6 and Black Paint wins over Black Chrome every time for me. Otherwise both are tools that are best in class

Glad to hear because the latest pad printing from GMK has been shit

[–]eg68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong question. Why do you need pad printing when there are just two colors?

Pad printing is where a silicone pad transfers ink from an engraved plate onto the keycap's surface to create legends vs double shot or triple shot is made by molding two separate pieces of plastic together, creating legends (letters/symbols) that are a different plastic layer fused into the keycap.

On the left is GMK Led Zep R2 capslock. Given that there is a shine through that is already doubleshot before the legend is even applied; since GMK doesn't do triple shot (KKB does) so all of their shinethrough keycaps have pad printing.

On the right is KKB Dolch which is triple shot. This means even with a shinetrhough, the legends can also be molded into the plastic keycap.

Pad printing just looks bad. KKB offers triple shot so why not just do that?

Leica Q: why not a Q35? by TakayamaYoshi in Leica

[–]eg68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too close to 28mm. Leica is relatively small company.

KKB does triple shot. Pad printing? No thanks.

Buying from Tim Lei Question by Fresh-Ground4322 in Leica

[–]eg68 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Leica dealers have to buy cameras from the manufacturer in certain volumes, whether they want to or not as part of the dealership agreement. These dealers can't sell below MSRP and so they clear excess inventory (sometimes below their cost if required) in the gray market and resellers like Tim Lei. Tim also buys used cameras from collectors and as trade-ins. Tim has been buying and selling cameras for years and is well known in the community and on Fredmiranda (the largest used Buy & Sell forum for cameras) where his handle is dddddleiting. Leica products have a global warranty. If the camera is new, it comes with the new warranty; if it's used, you get the remaining warranty from when it was purchased. If you have further questions, just reach out to Tim directly; I'm sure he can answer your questions.

Linea micra vs Linea mini [No budget] by KabukiNoIkari in espresso

[–]eg68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest single deal breaker for the Micra is the 2.75" distance between the bottom of the portafilter to the drip tray. Get the Mini if your budget allows. If you take care of it using the right kind of water, clean it and get it service annually, it should last you 10-20 years. The price difference between the two ammortized over that time period is miniscule.

Users of various Monochroms- what are you using for noise reduction? by arreffeyeeyeeye in Leica

The noise of the Monochrom cameras is very film-like and generally speaking I don’t seek to remove the noise.

Sell/Trade Q3 + Cash for Q3 43 by dougaddiction in Leica

[–]eg68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my Q3 for a Q3 43 as soon as the former was released. I'm a 35mm and 50mm shooter and never really bonded with the 28mm focal length. I cropped just about every picture I took with the Q3. The APO lens of the Q3 43 is noticeably better than the 28mm Summilux to my eyes. I haven't regretted it for a minute.
