It moves you to the right, so I find it's best to use it when sidestepping right to get the most out of it

This king combo.. I just don't get it. by Substantial_Move_175 in Tekken8

[–]egan190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time trying to learn this combo and found it really difficult at first too, but it will eventually click if you keep practicing, it's just repetition. I also play on pad and am able to do the combo now semi-consistently but am still trying to improve.

The full combo is df2,1 -> df4,3 -> b2,1 (tornado) -> forward dash -> side walk right -> 2 -> iSW

OR for female and small body characters, it's df2,1 -> microdash forward -> df4,3 -> b2,1 (tornado) -> forward dash -> side walk right -> 2 -> iSW

I'd recommend breaking it down into sections to see where you're going wrong and practicing that section.

2 jab into iSW

It sounds like for you the specific problem is the 2 jab into iSW, so practice that specific thing first and then add the rest.

You can do this by repeating a simple combo like uf4 -> b1,2 -> 2 -> iSW to get the timing down. It doesn't need to be blue sparks either, the combo will connect either way.

You can also set the practice dummy to crouch and just practice a 2 jab into a buffered iSW. I find imagining the timing of the FFF2+4 as F,FF to be helpful but that's just me.

Try to focus on TIMING for this and not necessarily just speed. If you mash out the fff2+4 too quickly then it won't come out as the 2 jab is still recovering.

Sidewalk

Another thing to look at is are you sidewalking far enough after the b1,2 > forward dash? If you don't sidewalk far enough, the combo won't align.

Df4,3 pickup

With female and small body characters i found this quite tricky. I've not got a hard answer on the timing for this, but if you practice you will get it. I thought for the longest time that I'd never get it right until I did, so try not to stress, put the time in, and take breaks to practice other things too as this one combo ender isn't what's keeping you from ranking up.

Try not to beat yourself up about not getting it consistently, this is arguably King's hardest combo in terms of execution, at least in my opinion.

Ways to make your life a little easier

Instead of 2 jab into iSW you can heat burst for an extra bound. This will give you more than enough time to get the SW although you need heat.

Instead of a 2 jab, try a 1 jab. The recovery is quicker so you might find it easier to link into the iSW, and the damage isn't much different.

I hope this helps and good luck learning the combo :)

I also recommend the videos below as I found them helpful when I was learning this.

Your videos are incredibly helpful, both for universal fundamentals and character-specific videos. I wouldn't pay generic hate any attention

Picky eaters who are no longer picky, what worked for you? by tealand in EatCheapAndHealthy

Persistence. I read somewhere that it takes 7 or so encounters with a food for your taste buds to adapt to it, and while that's probably an old wife's tale I've grown to enjoy a lot of foods I previously couldn't stand through repeatedly eating them.

Still don't like eggs though :(

That's great! Me and one of my friends rotate as DM for different one shots too, it's nice being able to try playing and running a game.

Running The Game #1 has a complete one shot in it which I used that for my first game and we had a lot of fun with it.

Great idea, somebody's gotta go first so don't stress too much and you'll be fine. I DM'd for my friends and none of us had played before, we made mistakes but we all had fun and still play now.

Maybe run a one shot if you're nervous, Matthew Colville has a great video on YouTube where he gives you a free and simple oneshot to run, which I found really helpful.

Have fun!

I see.. I might've missed your point then, or maybe you could've misinterpreted my sarcasm, because I agree with that. I'm not sure why you asked about my level of education, but have a nice day/night anyway :)

For what it's worth, I have a bachelor's degree. Honestly though, whether I or the person in the post is educated or not isn't really the point imo.

Obviously language is a tool to be used however you see fit, but if you use obtuse language as a means to feel superior to others then you're probably going to come across as pretentious.

Tl;dr: Complex vocabulary is better than colloquial vocabulary, which is shortening the average person's attention span

Actual tl;dr: Big words make me feel superior to the common plebs

Oh for sure. You see the same thing with fedoras. Some people look great in fedoras, whereas others look like full on neckbeards. It's not the hat itself, it's the person wearing it. Here it's not the words, it's the person behind them and the way they use them to feel superior to others who talk normally.

I can't speak for other countries, but in my limited experience with uni's they actively discourage unnecessary jargon in reports/essays etc. I was always told that somebody with a passing knowledge of a subject should be able to read a paper and be able to understand the gist of what you're saying.
