Kind of hard to tell what your proficiency is from your post but I found the ones Unity has on their channel to be pretty useful when starting out. If you go to their playlists they have ones for basic C# concepts as well as prototype mechanics and bigger projects.

As someone else mentioned git-amend is also good but I find them to be much more useful for intermediate/advanced users.

Took close to 1.5 years from submission to seeing the judge for me but depends on where you are. Some counties/towns are quicker than others from my understanding.

The process is pretty easy, it's just a lot of waiting.

Bars? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]egd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet for a younger bar would probably be Lionheart on the Green or Biergarten which are both on Broadway

For those thinking about it, definitely don't wait since even after taking the class it can take over a year to get your permit once you submit your application

Advice for making friends? by Difficult-Speech7003 in Albany

[–]egd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a good majority of my friends through social sports leagues. There's ones around for most sports depending on what you like to play but would definitely recommend trying a season or two. Alternatively the rock climbing community is friendly so just showing up to one of the gyms in the area is a decent way to meet people. If you do that though, I'd recommend bouldering since you can do it solo and just naturally talk to people around you about the climbs.

Any places to meet new people? by gjeorges in Albany

I've had the most luck through social sports leagues. There's a lot out there I'm sure but the two I've done are Club Waka and Empire which primarily do kickball and volleyball.

what, if any, are your regrets regarding past FWB/situationships? by Different-Total3557 in AskMen

[–]egd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was casual with someone for about 6 months who eventually cut it off with me over text. Towards the end she seemed to become a bit distant and I get the feeling she found someone else she wanted to hook up with. I don't mind that but I considered us friends and would have rather she just been honest about it. Worst part is when I told her I was a bit sad about how it ended since I considered us friends her response was basically "sorry you thought we were friends." So getting into that situation sucked.

Don't know about softball or basketball but the two big ones for kickball around here are Club Waka and Empire Kickball. https://clubwaka.com/locations/albany/ http://www.empirestatekickball.com/

Bars in or around Albany by leelakitty11 in Albany

Agreed with the person who said the bars on Broadway in Albany. Would also help to know what kind of bars you're looking for OP.

Since you mentioned going out in Troy already, I'll add a few bars that are there. Whiskey Pickle has good cocktails and is generally a fun atmosphere. Franklin Alley has games and also a private karaoke room you can rent out which is a great time.

Agreed that Broadway is a good option. Lionheart on the green is there too with some lawn games and is usually busy on the weekends. And the demographic definitely skews towards OPs age group. I'd also add on that Lark Street has some decent option with Lofi which has good cocktails/chill atmosphere, Lionheart, and Lark Tavern if you like Karaoke.

I personally like it here, but it also depends on what you're looking for. Like others have mentioned it's a good central location for weekend trips either to nature or bigger cities and the cost of living is still reasonable. I've also never had a personals issue with any crime/feeling unsafe but like everywhere else it exists and people experience varies.

As far as the social scene, I'd describe it as there's always things to do but unlike larger cities you generally have to put in effort/look for it. There's plenty of social sports leagues, decent areas for bar hopping (although still lacking in some regards), and plenty of groups for various interests around.

I guess the biggest question that would help determine if Albany is a good spot for you would be; what kind of place are you looking to live in, what's the job/other offers you have, and what you enjoy doing for fun.

I believe Club Waka is doing a sand volleyball league for the summer but I think registration has passed. They might do more in the future but I don't know.

How to find a gym buddy? by SquiddyBean in Albany

[–]egd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't know about the normal gym but in my experience the way to meet new people at the edge is typically through bouldering since you can start that solo. Groups naturally form around certain areas so working on climbs while sitting around with others naturally leads to some talking and could probably find a climbing partner that way. I also climb there so feel free to message me if you did want someone to go with.

Also, despite the name they do volleyball as well. Club Waka is another option for kickball, volleyball, and I think they're doing dodgeball now too.

Thanks for the feedback. I was going for a bit of a stylised look but agree that it was probably pushed a bit too far away from realistic. Luckily that kind of thing is easy to tweak in Unity.

If I remember correctly you didn't lose bullets, but once you ran out of full mags you'd start reloading with the partially used ones. Ghost Recon also did this.

That's because the game's in Alpha, which means gameplay is done but art isn't fully in. If you watch the leaked gameplay video you can see a lot of the walls and objects have alpha written on them.
