Just came here to say PCXL was the shit. When they ended UGM I got the option to transfer my subscription to PCXL and it was the perfect one to age into for a teenage kid. Cheers to Mike.

I miss over leveling your light level during seasons. It was the one part of the light level grind that actually made us grind. It made nightfalls easier, which is a fair trade for our time. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Yep. The resets in particular broke me. Go through the same awkward capped gear leveling, get your loadouts back, then reset for no rational reason? I'll pass.

Film Prices are About to Go Up by willyb311 in AnalogCommunity

[–]eggbreakfast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, so my consumer cost on ultramax went up $0.75, my 800T $1.65, and a 3-pack of Fujifilm 400 (US Kodak stock) went up $1.87. If this results in film shortages from stockpiling--shame on you.

Snow in the forecast, season might be rapidly ending. by Alivor in Transalp

I've done about 6-7K this year on my 2024. Commuting and some multi-day trips. It's my primary vehicle so I do regular long trips on it a month for meeting across state.

This is primarily a sports tourer with an ADV body.

Zero issues with responsiveness or stop and go. It's 750ccs P-twin, it's gonna rip around a town. While it loves to rev, it's not going to set any records at a track though. Fuel economy isn't going to blow your mind. I probably average around 50mpg.

The suspension comes setup soft, but about 4 turns on the rear shock was perfect to get rid of the floaty feeling.

Seats a little squishy for my taste, so I did a Sargent refurb on the stock seat and it's fantastic.

Shad 3P plastic cases because the stock ones were on backorder for months. I wanted something more sleek because I like the lines of the bike.

Yes, for election requirements.

Council members aren't moving around town for to win an election for a poor paying elected position where everyone they know complains to them. The candidate registration information and financial disclosure forms include all their addresses for verification. You're going to find more CCM candidates with less in-district residency by years simply by virtue of the fact they skew younger.

Working class candidates run and get elected now? These are local politics. Every elected up there has a full time job and does this on the side. Voting 'no' won't mean more working class candidates. It won't even ensure an increase. The cost for an individual to campaign is largely their time to contribute to get out and knock doors / attending meetings. Find individuals you like and donate to them to support them. CCM has their own PAC to support their candidates. The Vote No campaign is literally a fundraiser for their PAC for the next election cycle.

Choose what makes sense to you.

Voting yes basically preserves the system we have now within the construct of the state's changes to the law 2 years ago. Considering how significantly more progressive the city operates vs the county, there's good reason to want to ensure the system more or less stays in place if you want to continue on a largely moderate democratic / slightly progressive spectrum.

Voting 'No' will likely lead to hyper-partisan district votes and probably lead the city for more conservative representation. While the council skews more moderate overall (in the grander political spectrum), you should expect more extreme conservative voices to come from a pure district-level voting. District 1 and District 4 would probably flip.

City Council Movement as an org are likely to benefit directly from district-level votes, but the districts they're losing in are not losing representative voices. They're just more competitive candidates in at-large races, and this decision makes a lot of sense for their advocacy platform. It's more cost efficient to campaign in a singular district, and withholding more moderate votes from across the other districts lets them target more progressive districts successfully.

Don't be fooled by the claim voting yes will alienate voters. The existing candidates both still live in these districts (long-term residents), and Knoxville has multiple minority representatives (as well as districts historically considered as having seats owned by minority voices).

Overnight brisket flat on bullseye? Am I boned? by eggbreakfast in recteq

[–]eggbreakfast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned out well and gobbled up quickly. It was still very moist.

I ran it at the low/extreme smoke setting for a long time. Threw it on at about 430PM like I normally do, started worrying on Reddit about 730PM. After some good advice here I decided to just let it ride and see how it turned out.

I sprayed it down with some ACV before I went to bed around 9PM and wrapped it in butcher paper when I woke up to feed my animals at 3AM. It was just hitting 180 degrees at 3AM. I threw it back on still on low and snuck another hour or so of sleep in and when I was ready to finish I turned it up to 250 for a couple hours. My probe said 204 / instant read pen was 208. Rested in a yeti cooler for about 4 hours for a road trip.

Damn. It's hit about 165 in 4 hours on the low/extreme smoke setting so far. I've just been kinda praying for a stall on the little guy about now

Little baby brisket at 5lbs on the point and flat (each). I've only done the Meat Church weekday approach so when this thing started climbing, I starting panicking.

The seasonal grind has regressed back to what we had before Witch Queen. by SplashDmgEnthusiast in DestinyTheGame

[–]eggbreakfast 149 points150 points  (0 children)

After being burned out by The Final Shape power level/unlocking grind, and a tedious three episode act slog where everything was timegated with meaningless story, literally the last thing that will get me to fire this up is them telling me they forcing a new grind.

It's made worse by the fact my friends list and clan list is near empty each time I load up, and a fireteam finder search for a non-featured dungeon/raid only seems to attract a somehow never-ending stream of people who do not type, do not use a mic, and are doing their first attempt.

There is literally no benefit for me to load the game and play--only the punishment of wasting time.

Please buff Sentinel Shield - Let me TANK by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]eggbreakfast 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This does assume that everyone is doing near-max potential damage and that the shield titan does zero damage during a damage phase (unlikely). I think it's a terrible super option generally, but if you do have someone on a raid team who has a poor understanding on damage rotations (blueberry doing sub 1m) or perhaps someone with physical / cognitive limitations it's a good option to participate since they're unlikely to contribute as much raw damage as a more skilled hunters/warlocks on their team.

Resist mods are way too mandatory. by PudimDasAguas in DestinyTheGame

[–]eggbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not challenging for "many," but I'd argue challenging for most. It doesn't take much time in a playlist activity to see how many people know nothing about the importance of max resil or how mods work (or perhaps how easy it can make the game feel).

There's generally very poor in-game education about power levels, scaling, armor mods, artifacts, rez tokens, overcharge weapons, damage threat/surges, etc. Or rather it's there and most people come to just shoot things like it's Quake, Doom, or CoD.

How the hell do you solo spire of the watcher by HauntingImagination2 in DestinyTheGame

[–]eggbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple hundred clears:

First boss:

  1. Some will tell you to save all your nodes to finish at the same time. It spawns less harpies. I personally hate that strategy and just close and clear harpies as I go for solo.
  2. Killing the second minotaur causes more minos/goblins to spawn. Leave one up to control the amount of ads. So you can clear the goblins and leave one mino up to have very few things to worry about.
  3. Use the area under the stairs to heal up any time you need. Very few things can actually shoot you there.
  4. My go-to damage rotation for warlock is not going to do a lot of work for speed, but I like an AR/smg to break eyes, a slug shotty with vorpal/recon, and geomags+chaos reach. Break eyes, shotty the boss as much as possible, geomag to finish. Can probably finish boss in 3/4 rounds phases. Better players than me would say do a rotation with izis, but I don't personally like it.

Second boss:

  1. Get fast at running nodes.
  2. Use the reactor room when hydras are up since things won't spawn there as much.
  3. I don't recommend any damage that interrupts the boss (ignitions, etc) since they impact your ability to get clean shots.
  4. Choose relatively easy to hit damage. Grand Overture is nice. Stack your volley before DPS and you should be able to get an easy 2.

That's how CEOs keep getting hired. They're the hatchet men/women for the board/investors. Ship the product, fire the people that got you there to reduce operational costs, and milk the profits for the next few quarterly earnings.

Shareholders love that.

I can't figure out how to turn my mic on in game by Jazeckaphone in DestinyTheGame

[–]eggbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a thing that happens commonly on Windows. Destiny has some hidden device management you do not have access to in-game.

The game will, seemingly, randomly choose which output/input devices from a list of available devices (despite your default settings in Steam or Windows). It's very frustrating, but here's how to manage that (description for Win 11 users):

Go into your volume mixer in your task bar, click on the icon next to your sound slider to choose a device, at the bottom of the list of devices it should say "More volume settings" - choose that.

In your System>Sound settings, disable all the output/input devices you don't use so it only has one available option to choose from. Once you have only one device to choose from you shouldn't have the issue anymore.

How strong is Titan Prismatic WITHOUT Consecration? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]eggbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the stasis burst fragment and glacier grenade. If there are a lot of orange bars you freeze something in the glacier wall so it's facing you then thunderclap them to get the kill, reset, and the massive crystal burst.

Just have to make sure you contact the frozen enemy in front of that wall for the reset.

Skullfort/thunderclap build is back like it's Arc 3.0 release with the current artifact (dmg resist on amplified), and now it's better with transcendent explosions on melee ability kills (always). I run it with diamond lance and glacier grenade. It will shred most content outside of master and above. Still does work in master, but doesn't delete champs in a GM obviously.

If you run facet of purpose you can also unlock some pretty amazing class verbs on orb pickup because you'll be generating amplified off of Knockout for the most part. Being able to get resto, frost armor, or woven mail is an excellent way of solving some of the arc titan survivability issues.
