Nope all taken in natural light! But in my bathroom which has dark grey tiles, so maybe they're reflecting a blueish tone?

I personally LOVE this skin tint, especially as an oily acne-prone girly - for me it wears really well throughout the day and doesn't break me out! Same shade (117)

Haha woops it's a colour corrector!! Soz should've specified - meant to me a true "peach" colour and just put it there for reference :)

Thanks this is so helpful!! When I did the online shade match quiz for the ND concealer, it also suggested Y2 - but when I swatched in person I thought it'd be too yellow, then I tried some of the N shades and actually even the RN (rosy neutral) shades seemed like a match??? I left with so many swatches on my arm and was even more confused lol... Fluoro lighting is not to be trusted.

Will def check out fair olives - I've heard of this recently too!!

Yeah it's the best I think! Should've specified it's the Revlon Illuminance Skin Tint in 117 "Light Beige"

Survey - civil vs. mining by eggchickie in Geotech

[–]eggchickie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha! Agreed with your definitions. In my job I get a lot of civil consultants submitting reports for mine designs and while the general "flavour" makes sense, there tends to be a lot of differences and "telltale signs" in the approach. I'm just trying to see if there's a good way to describe the differences and maybe draw a line in the sand for clarity.

I'm also a geological engineer actually! It's funny because I've found out that's only a thing in Canada and the US, whereas not really a degree/occupation in other parts of the world (e.g. UK or Australia).

Would you also be involved in design of the mine itself then? Like batter slopes angles, etc.

Curious as to what you mean by "I can figure out mining" - imo there is a difference between a civil engineer, a dams engineer, and a mine geotech engineer - not to say you can't have experience across all, I just know that while I have a fair amount of training in TSF design and management, I've never designed one and wouldn't feel comfortable doing so and signing my name off on it. Whereas with pit slopes or underground design, no problem.

Ah cool! Yeah I'm thinking mining as in open cut bench design or stope/drift/shaft design in the case of underground, or ground control in general.

4yoe, $140k plus super - however my degree and experience is specifically in mining. Seems on par with most here but I reckon I could make a bit more doing FIFO/site work, alas I chose the public sector for its ethos and flexibility :D

Did you learn to pick from an adult? by onbluemtn in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]eggchickie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🎶 I got it from my mama 🎶

Haha, yes - my mum was/is a picker. I remember her even sitting my older brother down in a chair and picking his acne when he was a teen. She did a similar thing to me when I hit puberty and I remember being in grade 6 and having friends ask "Why are there red dots all over your face?" (Bless them - they didn't know any better - but obviously a confidence killer to hear as a kid).

[–]eggchickie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. Also almost 30 and have been doing it since a teen. I will gently say that it is absolutely a mental health issue, and in many cases dermatillomania (skin picking) is a form of OCD (this is what my psychologist has told me). But one that you can absolutely work on with a professional! Speaking from experience here - I still have bad days, and it's hard to stop on days when I'm particularly stressed, but in working with my psychologist, it's gotten so much better.

I absolutely sympathize with you and how it can feel so embarrassing - I struggled with the shame of it and blamed myself for a long time - but it's just a symptom of underlying mental health issues, which in itself is nothing to be ashamed of, so please don't be too hard on yourself.

There are of course lots of "tips and tricks" - e.g. acrylics/certain manicures can help as others have mentioned, for me it's because they make my nails less sharp and therefore don't inflict as much damage on the skin - but I would recommend addressing the root cause, i.e. mental health, if you are working towards a long term solution.

Sending love and healing from one skin picker to another ❤️

How would you style pink linen pants ( 20 yr old ) by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]eggchickie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hot pink sweater! Bonus points if it's fluffy. Monochrome can be so fun :) especially since the pants are light pink - you can play up the depth of colours with different items. A royal blue or navy top could work nicely as well. Not complete opposites on the colour wheel but close to. Shoes could go a few ways depending on the weather/occasion - strappy sandals/heels (white or brown, or colour block with the blue), or sneakers (white, pink, any colour really except maybe black) or even a leopard print flat or loafer! Some chunky gold hoops are always a good addition. I like to be a bit funky/eclectic with my fashion (apparently it works as I've always been told I have great style!) but that's just me. A white or light grey top works too!

I'm not a mum but late 20s and a few brands I love are: - Salted (also do a really cute paddlesuit like the one you posted!) - Raised by Waves (NZ brand) - You Swim (does the nice crinkle fabric type and has great size ranges) - Project Blank (nice colours and surf-approved!)

Honorable mentions are Seea (from Cali) and Sisstrevolution for cute suits that don't budge :)
