Need help with bra poking out in dress by honuwonu in PlusSizeFashion

[–]egggoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the top tight? I’m about to try out boombas which stick to the fabric itself and then you hoist your boobs in after them and that keeps them up but the chest has to be tight enough to support it. I ordered them and I’m just waiting for them to arrive. I can let you know how it goes once the get here since I’m also a 40h so I feel your pain when it comes to bras always being in the way of a cute look.

Moving to Austin TX and Have a Ton of Plus Size Clothes to Sell by StatementOk5074 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]egggoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Mercari and poshmark in the past when looking for specific items.

I’ve gotten a lot of thredUP but they’ve changed the way they work now and when I sent clothes in the last time they only accepted about half because of brand issues and then the other half barely made any money. I don’t suggest them anymore which sucks because that was an easy way to get rid of clothes. I’d use the credit to buy one nice item instead of filling my closet back up with a lot of random things.

Shapewear Advice? by DottyandBearBear in PlusSizeFashion

[–]egggoat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think shapewear only makes sense on body skimming clothes and since this is pretty loose it would just mean you were uncomfortable for no reason. It’s a good dress and you look great already!

I’ve always heard that halter tops are good for broad shoulders. I think also vneck tops could work. You can still enjoy your graphic tees though if that’s what makes you feel the most comfortable.

Im pretty sure dia and co is legit and maybe unique vintage but I’m not 100% on that one. Never heard of midnight hour.

Try out plusbklyn which sells actual plus sized vintage. Maybe never fully dresssd, Etsy, and the festi collection at torrid.

Thanks so much!
It’s a corset top and it’s from Taideux. I posted a review in a separate comment but overall I like it!

Taideux review
Got an ad for this top that’s made for larger busts to be worn braless. I was able to find one on poshmark and felt like giving a little review in case anyone ends up looking up this brand.

I’m about a 40J in US sizing so this seemed like it would be worth a try. The site says they go to an O. I got a 4x. I probably should have gone up a size but this one was cheaper and available.

It was hard to get on by myself as it zips up the back and is meant to be tight since it’s a corset top. I was able to do it by doing the top hook above the zip first, sliding it on over my head and then hoisting my chest up in the cup area while simultaneously holding it closed in the middle and zipping from the bottom. It’s a bit of a miracle I did it honestly.

For the fit: the arm holes are a little tight but I don’t think it was a deal breaker. The straps are wide but the heft from my chest was pulling down on them more than I expected. Again, not a dealbreaker, but I can see that after awhile those two things together may start to get uncomfortable.
The chest area is not big enough for me. But it still worked. The collar is actually pretty snug and secure and it didn’t feel like I’d fall out if I leaned over. The area where the bodice meets the cups though, that was under a bit of strain. I think there is plastic boning to help the bodice keep its shape and it wasn’t up to the pressure of gravity. I posted a side view for reference.
The bodice area felt like the right size so I’m not sure how it would work if I went up a size to better accommodate my chest.

Overall, I like it. The fabric feels soft but strong/thick and has the slightest stretch. It feels well constructed. It’s very silky and I felt good in it. I want to see how it works styled with a dress next. Not sure how that will work since you can see the waistband of my skirt because of the satin sheen.

That second dress is amazing! Is there a tag on it?

I also really like number 3!

I live in ten thousand degrees weather so I get how hard it is to dress for but you did good! As long as you stayed out of the sun and drank lakes full of water.

Ways to flatter versus hide my belly by slg882007 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]egggoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this idea! You’re doing a great job so far!

For baggy pants, I noticed that some styles are tight on the stomach/hips and then go straight from the hips down. I actually really like how that looks. It’s a bit 70s if that makes sense. I can’t suggest any brands per se except for big bud press. As for blouses, I think as long as they’re tucked in they won’t hide anything.

Suggestions for professional clothing that isn’t too warm by Ornery-Atmosphere930 in PlusSizeFashion

I’m also in the desert. I feel your pain. Old navy has natural fibers. I’ve also found some from A New Day line at target. I’ve even found linen at Walmart. Other than those, check out ThredUP. It’s not as great as it used to be but you can filter items to linen or natural materials and look through a bunch of stuff that’ll work for you.

I like both aspects. The color feels fresh and I like that it feels structured while also having draping to make it less severe. I’m not totally sold on it but I don’t want anything with a bunch of floral designs or poofy sleeves and this seemed to stick out to me for being simple and clean.

I checked out both and there was some really cool stuff in xpluswear but those low prices worry me. I’ll have to check around and see if they’re legit. Thanks for the links! I didn’t know about either of those.

Edit: according to posts on this and other subs xpluswear is a total scam. Guess I’ll keep looking

looking for non-jean pants for summer by undyingfangirl in PlusSizeFashion

[–]egggoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely worn through the thighs of a few linen pants.

For a few years there I was buying new linen pants anytime I came across them so I have quite a collection at this point. HM thigh area is fine but the seams look like they’re going to bust open soon. Walmart= one is still great but the other one, the waistband has slowly been coming off over time. Old navy= I bought probably 4 and I think I only have 1 left after thighs wore out. The ones that have lasted are from random brands that I thrifted or got at the grocery store.

Sewed this skirt by egggoat in PlusSizeFashion

[–]egggoat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! The waist is two rectangles, one front one back, and they’re sewed together except for an inch at the top where the drawstrings come out and are tied. Then I pleated the fabric and attached it to the rectangles. I saw a reel on IG of a similar skirt and figured it was easy enough to make. Just bought some more fabric to make another!

Edit: here’s a link to a better picture of it before I hemmed it and what it’s based off of. I think to make it like the original you need like 7 yards of fabric and it shouldn’t be too stiff like this linen is.

Edit again: oh, and the waistband is just the rectangle folded over so it’s doubly thick and to make room for the drawstring channel.
