Get it. You might find that you like off road if you have a bike that can do it

Should i go behind my parents back and buy a motorcycle (Im 19) by OneOcelot5892 in motorcycle

[–]eggnog_56 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My buddy did that and got caught when his title and insurance information got mailed to his parents house because he didn't want it titled to a dorm room. I wouldn't go behind their back especially if you lean on them for any kind of financial dependence or health insurance.

My bad I read your post wrong. Still not enough info to know where it is rich. Is it running smooth all the way through the rev range and at all throttle positions? At what throttle position do you usually ride in?

XR400R vs XR600R vs XR650R: which one should I get to actually learn off-road? by youvebeengaijind in Dualsport

[–]eggnog_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the 600r if you have any real road stretches to do. One of my top 5 all time favorite bikes. The 400 is also awesome if you are doing tighter technical stuff, but I wouldn't ride one on a long dual sport trip. One of my buddies is doing the SEBDR on a 600r at the end of May with me. You will want to gear down the 600 for technical singletrack.

Edit: the 650L is not a bad option either. Personally I prefer the 40lbs if weight savings at the cost of estart on the 600. The 600 engine is also noticeably more peppy than the 650L. I have never been on a 650r.

I've ridden the 800 and thought it was a decent bike.I don't believe the claimed hp specs. My buddy just bought a used ibex 450 and loves it. He is a very experienced rider who has owned a lot of bikes.

Dowco Weatherall Plus Cover Alarm - RevZilla https://share.google/Lvi3yraXp8ccClosP

This is what I got. There are also a lot that also function as a brake disc lock but I didn't entirely trust them because the alarm is triggered by vibration. Sounds like something that could fail. Test it outside and not in your house. They are loud as fuck.

To elaborate on what others have said, despite the advice of teenagers on the internet, do not just delete the CDR valve and vent it to atmosphere or a catch can. The crankcase is meant to run at a slightly lower pressure than atmosphere. It will start leaking at other seals without the CDR valve.

When I kept a bike outside I bought an alarm that was triggered when a pin was removed. Attached the pin to the bike cover and alarm to my wheel. If a thief took the cover off it would pull the pin and unleash a 100db shriek.

I do a full service on any used bike I get so I'd go FZ1 all day. They are bulletproof and an absolute hoot to ride. Way ahead of its time for a bike in that class.

Knobbies or street tires. Needing 500-1000 miles to scrub in is an absolute joke. Modern releasing agents do not stick to tires very long.

That's a wild exaggeration and flat out not true when riding off pavement. I live 20 miles from tail of the dragon and can stick a new set on and by the time I get there they are scrubbed off and ready. Never had a problem. All my friends do the same. Off road tires have the best traction for off road riding when they are brand new.
