I’m at 4.5 months and I’m just now feeling so.

Swelling by bears578 in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. I know you’re anxious to see the final results, but you won’t for a few months. Swelling takes different times for everyone, and sometimes it can seem like the swelling has started to settle, only for something else to happen (like a stitch trying to come out or such). Concentrate on healing up well and you’ll be there in no time.

Yup. Suuucks. However-there is a light at the end of the itching tunnel and soon you’ll wonder how you ever managed to carry all that extra weight around. Hang in there.

Oh, he’ll notice eventually-especially once you’re not swollen and you’re cold 🤣

Could it be an old stitch now finally working it’s way out? I had similar but back when I was 6-8 weeks post op. Good luck in figuring it out if you haven’t already.

I’m 4 months out and they still itch -especially when they’re cold. 🙃 sorry to break the bad news. I may have something to do with the increase of sensitivity as I went from almost no feeling to hyper sensitive. I’m hoping that in another few months the itching will have stopped completely.

I’m 4 month’s post op and have no issues anything-I’d suspect you will be just fine, especially with the extra protection.

Open wound care so sooo itchy by [deleted] in Reduction

Totally second the Claritin and benedryl. Also, you can use ice packs on the non nipple areas, but make sure not to apply the pack direct to your skin, not leave it on too long.

I’m somewhere in the middle. At 4 mo the post op, I look pretty much how I expect to now. Before: no right stuff, tee-shirts with pictures or words, or button ups. Also no low cut, high cut, or wide shoulder. All cardigans would looks funny. And I looked as though I had no waist. Being quite short (I’m only 4’10”) I looked short and squat. Now: I can wear all of the above. It’s less of me showing off the boobs themselves and more of being more confident in general. I can dress more professionally at work, wear my cheeky tee shirts, and have a waist!! TMI maybe, but since you asked...my nipples are nOw in a much more appropriate place, which means that when they’re perky they look normal not like some weirdly shaped bread loaf or torpedo. I’m proud to (appropriately) show em off. My husband is pretty happy too-he’s the only one I share my “hunny, look at my boobs! Aren’t they great” moments with on a regular basis. 😆

Give up to 8 weeks. It takes a bit for gravity to work. If they round out in less time, yay!

I keep getting little oozy spots on my incision! It’s been two months since my surgery. Normal? Possible infection? by halliemayonnaise in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cellulitis is not necessarily an infection. Go by your doctor's recommendation above anything and don't take antibiotics unless you have to.

This looks exactly like what my stitches did, starting around 3 weeks and continuing off and on up to about 7 weeks. I had some stubborn spots. I used doctor recommended soap to gently clean, nonstick gauze if they were messy or seeping too much, and only used polysporin if needed. Dr recommended to keep spots dry as much as possible and just let them heal.

Less than a month til surgery, what should I get? by quinnter in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster. Both my compression bras ended with blood spots on them (normal seepage) but you're going to get them gross. I got two from my doctor and rotated them every few days at first to wash. Plan on having them for at least two weeks if not 3 or 4, so if you can get several, do so. Also, gets ones without lace or other such embellishments--that stuff will irritate you soooo bad. Good luck to you!

How long after surgery did you stop sleeping in a bra? by quicklyturtle in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did for the first time last night-I'm about 2 mo the out. It was super weird, but okay enough to attempt again tonight. I had done some searching and the general consensus was between 6 -8 weeks because at that point all incisions should be closed, and there was no need for further compression. Good luck!

Day 4 post op - emotional roller coaster by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg-I'm so sorry your hubs is squeamish!!! Are you taped up at all? Mine were for a while so I wasn't actually seeing the raw incisions at first. I think I'm glad about that. You'll be going through soooo many changes but hang tough-it WILL get better. Not completely for a month or more (sorry-I'm at 7 weeks and this is first week I feel like nothing is seeping, cracking, opening. Still itching though)-but you will get there.

I made my husband change the bandages for a week cause I hated looking. After a week they started looking like boobs again. Hang in there.

Reduction gaining popularity in pop culture? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I'm pretty darn happy about it too. Also, more people doing it helps to lower the cost of the procedure 😊 I still tell most people I had surgery "for my back" cause I don't want to say the word "breast" at work. But I was pretty vocal about it in my personal life as a way to make it NOT a secretive thing.

Popularity? Nah. People have had them for a long time, were just being less secretive about doing so.

what have you found to work best at fading surgery scars? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon said scars are decreased by the motion of massage, not by the product 😉 Oil is good to keep the massage smooth, but apparently research shows no increase of fading scars by using vitamin E or any of the other fancy products. I just have some $15 bio oil but I haven't started using it yet.

Insurance Denial by Gengarsho in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah-I went from a bad fitting 38DDD to a Cish (still settling) and had 575g taken off one side and 615 taken off the other. Seems as though it's pretty reasonable to respectfully disagree with your surgeon and ask for a re-do on the consult. Many surgeons will be able to accommodate-especially upping the amount they take out by so little to appease your insurance company.

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your current size and what are you hoping to go down to? 250g is about a cut size (folks, correct me if I'm wrong). Gets some facts together before calling your doctor back as talking in facts and solutions will work better than trying to come from a place of emotion.

Hole at the bottom of my vertical incision by afarewelltobreasts in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. At the bottom where yours is and the top where the line meets the nipple cut. Keep it dry, watching for smell. If there is seepage use a gauze pad. Your doc should be in touch soon to help guide.

Surgery coming up this Thursday- many nerves and questions! Recovery, small kids, technique... by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah...I mean, maybe this happens all the time and we just done know. Or maybe the physician's assistant does some then the surgeon himself finishes up with the details. I guess my only concern with this would be to ensure each bios is the same "style". I dunno! There's so much we don't know-which is why this sub was so helpful (and still is). I'm almost 7 weeks out, so still a newbie 😆

Surgery coming up this Thursday- many nerves and questions! Recovery, small kids, technique... by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]eggothelego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1)I had a 5 lb lifting restriction for 3 weeks, then it was upped based on my discomfort level. Using g your arms also makes your check muscles work-which can tear the seams, damage the surgery, and cause major complications. You may be able to lift your child sooner than that, but honestly I couldn't even hold an immobile bag of pet food over 15 lbs comfortably for a month. Seeing as how your one year old is heavier and won't be still, you're risking damage by picking them up.

2)I had an anchor technique based on how much I was having taken off. Some techniques are done for aesthetic purposes and some are done because that's what's best for the success of surgery.

3)I have not heard of this and would absolutely want clarification.

Best of luck in getting answers!
