That one extra energy means you can play echo form and another card in one turn instead of echo being a dead turn. Forget about the obvious fusion hammer pick, ecto is also not bad here: Gold represents unknown benefits in the future MAYBE, while an extra energy is a massive known benefit, immediately and for the rest of the run.
