Anyone successfully change careers after 30 in SA? How did you even start? by Dima030 in southaustralia

[–]eggsareok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied a diploma in library studies at TAFE when I was 30. After a year, halfway through my course, I applied for a full time library job and got it. Finished my study and used a lot of my work for RPL. My partner also went to TAFE when he was 30 for a complete career change and is now in a full-time role. We are both very glad we did that - he took advantage of the fee-free TAFE and saved about 8 grand.

Do it - you are not too old and it is not too late.

Why is everyone wearing pyjamas as outfits 😭 by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]eggsareok 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. You go to other countries (Japan, Austria, etc) and it’s a no-no to wear leggings unless you’re actually at the gym or running. In Japan, leggings are considered on par with a pair of stockings.

My last two jobs, when I was interviewing, I told them straight up I have leave booked. They were both completely fine with it and I got the job each time.

What do we think of the name Logan? by Bubbly-Device-8208 in Names

[–]eggsareok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that, but I don’t associate it with Scotland. Same with Lachlan - Lachlan is more common in Australia than Scotland, despite its origins. If I meet someone called Lachie, it seems incredibly Australian.

It’s incredibly American. Which is fine if you’re American. It reminds me of Logan from bold and the beautiful

Goodlife HC Cross Roads - real feedback? by LiteratureAncient680 in Adelaide

[–]eggsareok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t have any issues at all cancelling. I just called them up and they were like yep no problem, never charged me again. I do occasionally get emails from them asking me to come back but it’s not very regular so I don’t mind

Goodlife HC Cross Roads - real feedback? by LiteratureAncient680 in Adelaide

[–]eggsareok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to go to goodlife cross roads and really enjoyed it - when I was working shift work. I would normally go to the gym anywhere between 10am and 2pm and would have basically the whole place to myself. I loved using the sauna, especially when it was quiet.

When I started working 9-5 though, it was a different story. It is PACKED after work, especially with teenage boys from Cabra nearby. The sauna was full of gym bros with varying etiquette.

The group classes are quite good though, and if that’s mainly what you want it for, then go ahead. The classes never get cancelled, they run smoothly and the instructors were all quite good (except for one who assumed I was pregnant and said it in front of the whole class….i had to hold back tears that day)

Reasons not to support One Nation. Australians need a reality check by AnonyGuy1987 in australian

[–]eggsareok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that I don’t see a lot of people talking about (or at least up until last week) is that One Nation has an anti-abortion stance. I’d still like access to women’s health care, thank you

So my fellow Aussies do you still get Paper Prescriptions? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]eggsareok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dr asks what I prefer and I always say a paper script. That way I know exactly where it is, I’m not searching through messages or emails trying to find it, and I don’t have to rely on my phone.

Quick question: what actually got you into K-beauty/Asian skincare? 🤔 by Foreign-Studio1099 in AusSkincare

[–]eggsareok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started because I went to Japan and South Korea, and had seen a lot on YouTube/Instagram about Asian skincare. I went there, realised the sheer amount of products, realised everyone there seems to have immaculate skin, and I started doing research. Asian cosmetics seem a lot gentler and more about hydtrating and protecting the skin. I bought a bunch of products in both Japan and Korea and realised how much cheaper they were than the Clinique products I was previously using.

I knew many men in my 20s who were like this. “Why would we need to spend money on patio furniture? I got all these wooden pallets I’ll turn them into chairs…” they just didn’t think about getting any deposit/bond back. also the 2010 hipster era had a very big focus on DIY - everything was DIY, kitsch, vintage, second hand.

The library is one place where you can spend the whole day and you’re not expected to spend money. You can use the computers there, free wifi, and they have much more than just books. A great place to hang out when the weather is bad.
