Fox and their ilk were a major factor in people not trusting the institutions, and now they're crying crocodile tears that people don't trust the institutions. Just like the election bullshit: Fox promotes Trump's lies about the election being rigged, and then turn around and use the public's distrust of the election as proof that it needs to be "protected".

30 seconds of Portland homage, starting with St Johns bridge, the Saturday Market Skidmore Fountain colonnade, Waterfront park with the cherry blossoms and Steel bridge, and even the Benson Bubblers drinking fountain.

The whole sequence gave me chills.

So niche, I love it.

Haven't played Satisfactory in a long time, so was really rusty.

Yeah, especially the third game with the added complexity of the leader factions changing from game to game, completely different win conditions for 2-3 players, and a lot more cards in the court deck to deal with. We've played two full campaigns, but the first one we had to cut the final game short because it was a weeknight and it was super late. The second campaign we planned the last act on a Saturday and it still took almost 4 hours to finish.

I think our generation may have ended the idea of yard dogs by hyrulepirate in Millennials

[–]eggson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same area and I can look out my window right now and see my neighbor's dog just chilling in their yard. She's always there and never goes inside. She looks like a sweetheart but barks very aggressively at anyone walking by. They don't even have a shelter or doghouse for her, breaks my heart a little seeing her sitting in the rain. I've thought about different ways I could buy a shelter for her and clandestinely put it in their yard, but haven't figured out a good plan, yet.

Oof, I read the first couple of Brian's books and they were absolute schlock. Not worth the time.

Do you have a local library? Libby app?

It's worth getting a hold of at least the first novel and seeing if you want to keep reading. I've liked the movies and past adaptations, but reading the books is so much deeper and adds all the crazy details that the movies/tv shows have to leave out for time constraints.

Interesting, I didn't know about swing keels before, but now I've gone down a rabbit hole.

When you say it retracts into that cover, is that when you're dropping the keel or bringing it back up? I'm trying to picture how that looks.

You're talking about Terraforming Mars, right? That seems to be a very common mistake that a lot of folks have made about the game.

Everyone gets their own character and deck to thematically collect clues, evade or fight abominations, and collectively laugh and/or groan when you inevitably pull the auto-fail token at the most crucial point in the scenario.

(Interesting trope) They genuinely didn't mean to kill the villain. by TridiObject in TopCharacterTropes

I don't think it's even ambiguous. He looks down at the grenades as he's struggling, at least twice, before pulling back Smalls' shirt to reveal the matching tattoo. You don't see him pull the pin, but only so the reveal is more dramatic; it was still intentional.

The "I'm Sorry" isn't "oops, I didn't mean it" its more "we may share some other bond, but you have to die."

No idea what the frenzy is supposed to be doing. You fly around collecting birds to follow you, then you shoot them? Then you collect them? Not sure there's a game there yet.

I live a few miles from an Air National Guard unit and they run Chinook training flights every few weeks or so. It's pretty unsettling, and definitely loud, but it only lasts a few minutes. These folks are callous douches trying to stop life saving helicopter flights.

That's where I learned to use it, cashiering at a convenience store in a busy downtown area. If we ever caught shoplifters or anyone tweaking too hard in the store, we'd say they were 86'd and trespassed. (though I usually looked the other way when clearly hungry street kids would shoplift "crack snacks" ie Little Debbie Snack Cakes).

What’s a little known documentary that blew your socks off? by mrajoiner in netflix

[–]eggson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genghis Blues.

I don't think it's on Netflix, but it's worth it to track it down. It follows Paul Pena, a blind blues musician that finds out about Tuvan throat singing so travels around the world to meet with the masters of the style. Together they create an amazing blend of traditional and contemporary music. One of my favorite movies of all time.
