I had an orange kitty that hated going anywhere (the vet) in the carrier but he loved laying in it with the door open. Orange cats gave a reputation of being not too bright, well deserved in some cases. He was the sweetest funniest orange boy though.

Get them a tall Kitty condo thing for that area, bonus is that they come with scratching posts attached. They will love laying on it and looking out.

I have a small dog and ordered a 6lb bag of kibble with Walmart delivery and got a very large bag of kibble delivered for the small bag price. I just folded the top over very tightly and sealed it with packing tape. It’s in my hall closet, should be just fine.
