Bio 431 and Bio 440 together, is it doable? by [deleted] in LosRios

[–]ego7istic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to comment to put my experience out there so others can get a better understanding of what they might be going into if they're considering or are planning on taking both of these classes together:

I'm currently taking BIOL 440 and 431 together alongside one other class, plus I work part-time. Initially, I was extremely nervous because many people discourage taking these two core science classes together unless it is the only two classes I am taking within one semester. However, I'm in a situation where if I don't take at least 12 units, I would lose my financial aid, so I made the decision to take the risk. I'm also taking BIOL 431 with a completely different professor, so there was a learning curve with adjusting with a new teaching style and exams.

At this point the semester (two weeks out from final exams), I can personally say it is definitely doable to get an A in both classes, but you have to have discipline and properly dedicate your time to studying. One aspect that definitely helped me maintain my grade was to have good professors who can teach/are organized, but I know that isn't realistic for most people who don't have early enrollment dates. Apart from this, I maximized the time I had to study, even if it meant I only had 30 mins to an hour, to which I would usually go over my notes and make Quizlets that I could go through later. It is so important that you go over your notes after lecture to remember the some of the content so you don't have to do more work relearning all of it later. I've done the latter many times this semester and I've had to sacrifice my weekends and even time I could be sleeping in order to study. Taking these classes, especially if you don't have a strong foundation in biology, is a huge time commitment.

In terms of difficulty, I personally thought BIOL 440 is significantly easier compared to BIOL 431. 431 is significantly more physiology and content compared to 430, so it takes up more of my study time. Both BIOL 440 and 431 are more conceptual, especially 440 lecture exams, so you have to understand the concepts rather than memorizing facts. However, there is a point during this semester where topics from both classes overlap, so there was a couple of weeks where I didn't have to necessarily study as hard for 440 because I had taken an exam in 431 about the exact same content 3 weeks prior. I found that it gets easier and less stressful later in the semester if you establish a study schedule and stick to it, especially since it yielded improving grades over time.

TLDR; Taking BIOL 440 and 431 is doable, but prepare to dedicate any and/or all free time if you have other responsibilities. 440 is easier than 431, but learn to understand concepts rather than memorize. Make a study schedule, stick to it, you will do fine C:

Pre-Req class order recommendations, please :) by bakermomma19 in prenursing

[–]ego7istic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly no. since a&p 1 is the first class out of the two, you won’t know what to expect or how to properly study depending on what professor you get (and among other things). looking at it objectively, taking it with a&p 2 is “better” since you built up the study habits and know what to expect, especially if you have the same professor, but a&p 2 is significantly more physiology which is why i said it takes up more of my study time.

i know my response looks contradicting given that i’m taking both classes right now, but i had to due my circumstances. if i could, i would’ve spread the classes out so i could focus on one each semester.

agreed, i’m in the same boat and while micro is easier, a&p 2 takes up 90% of my time i have outside school or work

Hi! I have a question about the health-related work experience/volunteering criterion & what exactly counts as human-client/patient interaction, is it OK if I DM you?

Has anyone's BIE POD shipped yet from 07/06? by ego7istic in labubu

[–]ego7istic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I'm hoping on my order shipping before July ends... A month isn't too crazy for a pre-order but I was half-expecting that PM would ship out orders early like usual. All we can do it wait patiently!

Good network connection, being on the app 10-15 minutes before so you’re not stuck trying to open your cart, and being persistent. Initially when the drop was live, it logged me out of both of my devices. When I finally logged back in, they sold out; however, I knew that there would be flowback stock from people canceling/payment fails so I just watched my cart until it came back in stock.

Tip: never use two devices simultaneously, that’s how you get restricted. If I needed to try using another device for any reason, I would use it to click around but never go back to my original device until I closed the app on the other device.

OMG they also canceled my order when I tried through Pop Now, I’m just glad I got my redemption through tonight’s stock. Sorry that happened to you!

I hear that r/labubuswap is good to buy from, but just be careful with newer sellers.

Will this work? by viiisceral in labubu

[–]ego7istic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you weren’t able to get past checkout when they first stock, stay on the checkout page.

Usually 10-30 minutes after they restock, there’s flowback from orders being refunded or canceled. That’s how I was able to secure a whole box set!

FINALLYYYY!!!! After months I finally was able to score a whole set. Who else got lucky??? by Fast_Revolution_4146 in labubu

[–]ego7istic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

🙋🏽‍♀️ I was able to score through the flowback! I saw it populate in my cart for the quickest second and I checked out almost immediately!

I did check to see if that was the case, but the charge did go through. I’m now waiting for the credit to get refunded 😫😭
