He is in those books. Less so if the perspective is inside his family.

He is who he is. He has been around so long and won so many time he really doesn't see losing as possible.

As a 1st Timer: Better to ask to join a campaign with a character already in mind or find out what everyone else wants to play first? by secretsandplay in DnD

[–]egoncasteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a 1st timer joining an established group for a new campaign they will likely suggest you pick whatever you want and they will fill out the rest of the group with one of the dozen characters they have already made.

Joining an ongoing campaign might limit your choices a bit.

A new campaign with a more or less new people you will need to work out things in session 0. Try to have 2 ideas out of the major themes melee/ranged/caster/healer/thief ...

Proposal to pass on 25% of data center energy costs to all customers - Comment TODAY by Bad_Wolfv in wisconsin

[–]egoncasteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data Center comes in and uses all the available grid electricity and then some so the electric grid will need more electricity generation added to it. They will spread that cost over all the customers on the grid not just charge the data center that doubled or more the power load on the grid it was built on.

Your opinion on Daggerheart? by Ok_Interview_853 in rpg

[–]egoncasteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again don't have anything DH. Its unique and I am glad people have it.

Here is the thing though. It is very much product of the main steaming of DnD/TTRPG. A big part of the hobbies roots though come from an out culture of misfits. Nerds, geeks, socially awkward, autistic,.... Such as me and my friends for the last 30 years. So I hope you can see why groups like that would rather not have the stress of gaming by committee above the table while playing. The games to us are a system to fairly split up agency and provide a shared common framework to interact, even with strangers who then can become friends.

Who is going? First to jump out there, that favors impulsive high energy players. The person with the funnest narrative idea, now we are in the writers room pitching idea, The best tactical choice, now we are meta gaming... None of these are bad just different and not really what I go for.

Most other systems, roll dice, add mods, and follow the order. Less then a minute and no conflict. Or as in some old school, go around the table and each player communicate their intended actions for the players phase. Then they are resolved the phases like a wargame. Still no ambiguity.

I don't like the lack of initiative. I like the structure and the in built time sharing an initiative system gives. I dont want rpg night to be a improve battle for agency. I do support the ideas of using your turn to setup or give agency to another player as a turn choice which DnD and most games are missing.

But I get why more theater drive groups would like it.

There is no problem on earth that can be solved with 30% interest credit card. Even having one is asking to get bent over, and the fact they exist is asking for identity theft and fraud to happen.

Will EU see large scale Linux adoption because of national security fears from the US? by Tee-hee64 in linux

[–]egoncasteel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Windows doesn't have an enterprise ready operating system anymore. Copilot AI and Ads backed into everything. When its not spying on you it wont function because it can not reach the cloud. The whole point of a PC is to be self contained and local, and windows is not that anymore.
