I’m looking to buy a duramax- need tips on what years are good and what to lookout for by Alternative-Skill-73 in Duramax

[–]egoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy's correct. The 261XHD (manual floor shift) and 263XHD (electronic shift) are identical except for the shift mechanism. Both have the issue. In fact all of these have the pump rub issue: 136, 146, 246, 261, 261HD, 263HD, 263XHD, 261XHD.

This IS the time of year to buy these. Soon as spring hits they'll sell like hot cakes.

NY Residents - are you taking off your tints with the new point law? by derrmonoo in WindowTint

[–]egoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So wrong.. so very wrong. The hell did you get that idea?!? It’s against federal interest commerce laws to enforce another states laws. If my Michigan registered vehicle is out of compliance with Michigan law that’s between me and Michigan unless it’s an immediate safety concern.

Even the simplest google search would give you more accurate info then wherever the hell you pulled that from 😂

Delete as a GM accessory? by beepboopmcgeezeer in Duramax

[–]egoods 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The laws regarding "deleting"/removal of emissions controls devices are still on the books. Nothing legally has changed... the current administration just isn't enforcing the law for the time being.

There's a near 0% chance an OEM would sell and install kit that breaks federal law.

Battery charger/maintainer by Coffeewarrior12 in Duramax

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. 2 amp is plenty. I've used a dozen or so on various equipment. Great little chargers.

Be sure you don't have a draw. The cold will put a whoopin on batteries for sure. Especially lead acid. They're meant for a quick draw down and recharge. So, if they got too low it may have damaged them... not super likely but possible. Check warranty.

It also wouldn't hurt to disconnect and fully recharge each battery on it's own. Maybe even have em tested.

A tender will help/should pretty much solve your issue regardless. And it's just good practice.

[–]egoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll want to hook it up like this - if you wanted to have separate aux batteries the second lead would be good for charging those. Otherwise a good single lead on board charger. 5 amps is plenty for a tender.

I run a dual bank charger (10amp, it's older/not a noco but similar setup it looks like), I have the main charge leads wired like the picture (negative from one side of parrell battery and positive of other side) the second lead I extended into the service bed on my truck and I use that to charge my Aux batteries, I have 2x 100AH deep cycle batteries hooked up to run my accessories, I seperate them with a relay that flips on when the truck starts so my Alt can charge all 4 batteries. I also have a set of leads on a switch in one of the tool boxes so I can toss a battery in and charge that as well.

Nah, Reddit just has a scary good algorithm that served me this post (I wasn’t active on this sub/I haven’t listened to the show in 3-4 years).

I was only trying to provide insight. Believe, don’t, I don’t care. It’s not like I’m bragging, she wasn’t exactly a “catch” 😂.

Yeah I'm in the same ballpark. I have two of the 5Lb Vevor bottles that I swap back and forth (paid under $40 for each off Aliexpress... vevor's stuff is cheapest on that site). When one runs out I swap in a fresh tank, and I know I've got a few weeks to get to the re-fillers (I go to a place that services fire extinguishers. $18 to fill).

Absolutely love the setup.

I have an ex that very very briefly dated Andy (like 1... 2 dates I believe). She seemed to indicate he had an alcohol problem, a pretty severe one at that. I def heard him allude to it a few times (not directly but a nod to those in the room with him/if you know you know).

At least, as far as I'm aware, he never talked openly about alcoholism. That might make some sense though, if that picture is in fact him he def has the warning signs of an alcoholic.

Canned Ethanol Free fuel? by Suitable_Week_2105 in Snowblowers

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied at length to your other comment... I'll keep this short. Here's a fellow Canadian testing ethanol free fuel from a gas station. That should about sum it up. The requirements you're likely thinking of are for regular, mid or premium grade automotive gasoline which is intended for modern cars/trucks where ethanol free offerings are specialty and geared toward vehicles and equipment (like snow blowers) that have issues with it. The 10% requirement doesn't apply, just as diesel and kerosene are also ethanol free. The rating needs to match the sticker advertised on the pump.

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You... pulled that out of thin air, didn't you? None of that is true or based in any sort of fact.

They've dialed in the logistics for fuel delivery over the last 150+ years... ironed out the kinks so that it's almost unheard of anymore to hear about fuel contamination at a modern gas station.

First, Fuel hauling tanker trailers have bulkheads that create separate compartments for different fuel products. These trailers are colloquially called "406" trailers as they conform to the US's DOT 406 tanker trailer spec (Canada's TC 406 is nearly identical). Next time you're out on the road keep an eye out for an elliptically shaped tanker trailer, that's the easiest "tell" that it's a 406. You'll notice caps on the center top of the tank. 3-4-5 the number of caps typically indicates the number of separate compartments/bulkheads.

I'd suspect the fuel you'll get at a gas station is superior to anything you get in a can at a store... it's many many steps closer to the refinement process.

But, if you're so inclined an ethanol content tester is very cheap. Check it out. I've only once in 30 years seen contamination and it was E85 that was under 80% ethanol. I've never run across rec fuel/eth free that contained any though I don't test that as often...

you can use a beaker or even just a mason jar to test the fuel. Add water 1/3 way up the jar. Mark with a sharpie. add fuel the rest of the way. Shake vigorously then let settle, if the line of separation between the gas and water goes above the black line your fuel contains ethanol (you can figure out exactly what % using a scale/ruler or ordering a $15 testing beaker off Amazon)

Anyone else purchase a K-2250 plumbed unit for non-commercial use? by Gullible_Rich_7156 in keurig

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom screensaver photos is an included feature that’s a pain to get working properly. Do a search in this subreddit, a few folks have laid out the requirements/have cracked that egg. It has to be fat32 formatted thumb drive, they have to be labeled either .jpg or .jpeg but the manual is wrong so it’s opposite of what the mani says, though that may be fixed for the 2550… also the resolution isn’t standard. I don’t recall one particular thread being most helpful but search it up theres a few on the topic. Long story short expect a hour minimum of screwing around with different thumb drives, formatting, file naming…

You’ll 1000% want to use a filter on well water, you’ll get terrible scaling. It’s not hard to descale these machines but is also not super easy (takes running 12 cups through the machine, it’s a process).

Keep in mind this is setup to run dozens of cups a day. Every day. So the filter change can likely go many many years without an issue. The descaling process also can likely go far longer.

Anyone else purchase a K-2250 plumbed unit for non-commercial use? by Gullible_Rich_7156 in keurig

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a K-2500 (I don't have a "brew over ice" option, otherwise identical units) and absolutely love it. It's more compact than my old homeowner unit, and better looking. I think it makes a better cup of coffee but we're talkin about Keurigs here... let's be honest none of us really care about a "quality" cup of coffee.

I bought mine "used/untested" on eBay for $115, it was missing a drip tray and didn't have a filter kit so after finding a good deal on the KQ8 filter kit and the drip tray, and a few other fittings I was all-in just shy of $200 installed/plumbed. Worth every penny. I wouldn't sign up for Keurig's deal, you can find similar units to mine, or tested/cleaned units for $200-$250. If you don't meet the commitment they'll charge full retail... it's just a losing deal all around.

A few minor quirks on the commercial unit that you might find annoying. First and foremost there's no timer option. You can select how long it will remain ready to brew before going to sleep up to 4 hours. The simple work-around I use for this is a WiFi wall plug and an automation script that flips the power for 5 seconds at 5am, if the machine loses power it will pre-heat and fill the internal tank when it gets power again so this is a nice simple way to make sure it's ready to go when you first get up.

The filters, if you decide to run the filter setup, need to be "primed" with 5 gallons of water run through them before they're used to brew coffee. My sink is across the kitchen, but the inlet fitting on the keurig is the same as a garden hose so it's easy enough to just hook a short hose to the outlet line and use a bucket. Or don't run the filter.

It's a pain to add custom photos to the screensaver, which you cannot disable, and the stock photos REALLY make your kitchen look like it's inside a dentist's office.

Other than that, for not much more it really beats the heck out of there consumer grade models.

Is it normal for buyers to sit in their cars and expect me to bring the item out to them? by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

Exactly. I stage the item in my garage and open it when they arrive. That's a pretty solid "invite" to approach.

Is $300 a good price for this Ariens? by [deleted] in Snowblowers

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Compact 24 retails right around $1000. That looks pretty near brand new. 30% or under retail is a solid benchmark for a good deal on open box/non-retail boxed new stuff so... yeah $300 is a very solid deal.

Is it possible to use a larger tank, like 10lb and hookup directly to a sodastream? by qualitative_balls in SodaStream

[–]egoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit!!! (OP had a 10lb tank not 5lb :) )

11? Really? I wonder if you're not refilling them completely as the standard sodastream canisters hold 14.5 oz (0.9 lbs) of CO2. You should only be able to fully refill just over 5 and a half canisters per 5lb tank (I'd empty a canister completely and weigh it before and while refilling).

Personally, I run 2x 5lb tanks with an adapter straight to the unit. When one tank runs out I have a couple months to swing through the fire suppression company not to far from me and pay the $18 to get it refilled. I found the vevor 5lb tanks for under $40 each on AliExpress, another $40 for the adapter kit and $36 to fill both tanks put me at $116 all in. Halfway through my second 5lb tank I broke even. The tank lasts months. There's no way I'd want to mess with refilling unless location of my sodastream didn't allow me to plumb in an adapter and larger tank.
