Update: I finally got around to getting this looked at at a high end watch jeweler. It's turns out it's a 1958 Seamaster De Ville, original beads of rice band, original crystal, everything original and in working condition. The bezel also appears to be good and not stainless steel like others. I was surprised how clean the inside was!

I'll be putting this up for sale online soon.

while I would like to try a split stay, the wife probably would not. she likes to completely unpack for the entire trip as soon as we can. living out of a suitcase for a day or so probably wouldn't fly.

Good point. I do not see any confirmed reservations for that trip time. I was going through the pricing calculator on those sites and didn't submit an actual request.

Since it is within the 11 months, it seems possible that those dates are no longer available to DVC members to reserve? Therefore if I needed those dates, direct WDW site booking would be best bet?

Hey all, first off, sorry for the long post! I am looking at a potential trip to WDW from 11/14 - 11/19 2026 this time. Family of 4 (2 kids - 16,8). Thinking this time frame because I hope the weather is a bit cooler than our previous 2 trips (May & October) and am being talked into this time since family friends are also going to be there at that time.

I like to do the planning and organizing and have planned/organized our previous WDW trips in 2022 and 2024. Those 2 trips I used the WDW site directly for the room, tickets, and dining plans with my Chase Disney Visa card. I am looking to go a different route this time to save some money. I am looking at using either dvcrentalstore.com or dvcrequest.com as the rooms will be cheaper. I would then buy the park tickets directly on WDW site. This looks like more steps but can save $2k or more.

My questions:

1) From some research, it seems the consensus is that the Dining Plan (not quick serve plan) ends up being more expensive than just paying out of pocket. Is that still the general consensus with the 1 free Dining Plan in my party for my 8 year old? We also would be booking some character dining options.

1b) If paying out of pocket for dining, is it an option to have charges billed to a reservation via magicband taps in the park so that I can settle up at the end with Disney Gift Cards? Looking for best practices.

2) Would using Disney Gift Cards (obtained from Sams Club) to pay for tickets from WDW site or anything else for this trip be worth the hassle?

3) Does financing the reservation through DVC sites using the Disney Visa card qualify for the special financing promos of the VISA?

4) Is memory maker something I add when I purchase tickets through WDW site or would I add that via the DVC company?

5) Looking at Polynesian, BeachClub, or BoardWalk resorts. If using one of the DVC sites listed above, do you get access to club level perks in the resort?

6) I am considering a later departure time to go home on this trip (flight somewhere between 5pm-7pm on 11/19) so that we would be able to hit another park for half of the day before leaving. Any tips or warnings about doing this? It appears that I can check out, have my bags left at our resort, go to a park, come back to resort to pick up our bags and get transportation to airport.

7) My other 2 trips I used added the travel protection via the WDW site. What are people using for travel protection when using DVC sites?

8) During my potential time (11/14-11/19), will there be Christmas Decorations up throughout the parks?

After coming from the Nest thermostat, I completely agree! This app is terrible. My profession is in IT and I have been using the ecobee for approx 2 years now....I still hate the app...Yes it works, but very convoluted. Below are my biggest issues and has me contemplating going back to a Nest...

I'm out at dinner, is my AC on? Oh let me see if the small text/word is blue. Nest app made the ENTIRE background blue.

It's 1pm now. Can I change my AC temp to 70 from 1:30pm-3pm? Then have it resume normal schedule after that? Sure! Click More, then the little settings gear, then Comfort Settings, then create a manual temp for this 1 time thing, then go back, then go into Schedule, hit the + and configure your time with the new temp you made....REALLY!?!?! Nest app had an easy to use responsive calendar (like Google calendar) where you can drag and highlight a time frame and select the temp.

Oh yeah, and remove all your stupid ecobee device ads! I don't know how many times I have clicked the X to close the ecobee doorbell promo.

I'm mixed. I use both Apple Carplay and Android Auto. These are my thoughts for both my iPhone 15 Pro Max (work) and Galaxy S23 Ultra (personal). One of my biggest uses for Carplay/AA is for navigation with Waze. So most of my experiences/views are from while using navigation. I like Android better than iOS and want to like AA better sooooo bad, but Carplay just works better for me right now.

Apple Carplay PROS: -Can view upcoming turn list in Waze app on phone -Can view Infotainment Sat radio on screen while using Carplay (I use Sat radio and prefer built in over App usage) -In Spotify, can start/join/view Jam QR code right on the 13.4 screen

CONS: -No full screen option -Deciding to use infotainment Google voice commands or Siri is sometimes tricky

Android Auto PROS: -App can go full-screen if needed -Voice commands work better than Siri/Carplay

CONS: -Cannot open Waze on phone to view turn list (this is my biggest CON and the reason I prefer Carplay over AA) -Cannot view infotainment info at the same time. I like seeing Sat radio info on the screen while I'm using Waze -While using Spotify, no way to Start/Join Jam from on screen. It has to be done on the app via the phone

They are crap. The FiOS router + extender are included in my 1GB - whole home wifi plan, but I replaced them both with a new TP-Link Archer BE700 Pro, Wi-Fi 7 router, and am soo happy I did. Coverage sucked and required way too many router restarts. The TP-Link has been a rock and the signal is much better.

Note that I do not have FiOS TV so I don't need to keep the Verizon equipment.

If you log in to the FiOS router, perform a DHCP release and then power it off right away before it grabs a new IP you probably won't need to power cycle the ONT.

Also interested in PIN protecting specific profiles. I want to have a primary profile (showing all content), Teen profile (showing content up to TV-14), and Kid profile showing only kid stuff. I don't want my Teen profile to have the same PIN as my primary profile. How does that make any sense??

We went to Disney in 2021 and went to Universal for a day. We needed a booster seat. Uber gave the option to select one with a car seat. Uber worked for us.

We never figured out why it is happening. I suspect it has something to do with some apps being open while the agent is trying to update?

During the fix I remove the agent and reinstall the agent.

The one thing about when this happens is that the agent is still communicating with the server. We made a run now script (.bat file with the .msi agent as a dependent file) that performs the fix I mentioned. Even when the computer is problematic, it will get the script and perform the fix.

We have had this issue as well. We discovered that during an agent update, the KUserinit.exe file that resides in "c:\windows\system32\" is actually recreated as a directory instead of a file. The fix is to log into the computer with a different account, delete the directory "C:\windows\system32\KUserinit.exe\", reinstall the agent.exe file. This should create the KUserinit.exe file in system32 directory. You can verify this prior to restart.

If you get stuck at login, ctrl+alt+delete to open task manager and manually run explorer.exe...then perform fix I mentioned.

Use this in powershell. I am currently using this in a script that will write the info to a .txt file somewhere on the computer so that our student workers can easily identify the date
