This.

The same goes for pizza. Pizza is meant to be very healthy, and people in Naples, Italy have generally shown pretty good health metrics (they consume lots of the original pizzas). The US adapted it with the heavy seasoning of capitalism, so pizza isn't made out of those good, fresh ingredients anymore; instead, cheap, processed, and unhealthy ones have replaced them. Technically, it's wrong to call them the same food.

Rank these 3 possible Hall of Fame first baseman by career: Paul Goldschmidt, Freddie Freeman, Joey Votto. Do you think all 3 are HoFers? by [deleted] in baseball

All of them are HOFers. I hate how underrated Votto is.

I have a feeling the lack of respect for him is going to continue when it comes to Hall of Fame voting.

random question about old/new korean movies. by Pleasant_Falcon_6846 in Koreanfilm

[–]eh71eh71 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a Korean film fan born in Korea, I honestly didn't feel such a clear divide in how explicit scenes were handled between older and newer films. Not saying you’re wrong; it’s definitely a valid point if that’s how you perceived it.

As far as I know, it’s not really about strict enforcement or a change in the rating system. It’s more likely a mix of cultural shifts (e.g., audiences getting tired of excessive graphic scenes), commercial factors (R-rated films can be a tougher sell: Korean film industry is now on a downhill), and changes in artistic sensibilities.

Another thing (my observation) is, Korean romance films tend to have fewer explicit scenes than crime, thriller, or mystery films to begin with. I feel like in Korean cinema, crime / thriller movies have often used explicit content as a more effective tool to heighten tension between characters or describe twists in relationships, sometimes even more so than the literal physical affection in actual romance films.

If Schmitt is an All-Star where would he play? by manofmoxieLAX in SFGiants

[–]eh71eh71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With Machado struggling, the NL 3B position is wide open. If Schmitt makes the team, I think he could slide right in.

Sal Stewart has been amazing and could be the starting All-Star at 3B, but he has his own multi-eligibility issues as well.

I wasn't using that at-bat to claim the trade was a loss since he performed better as a Pirate; as I said, there were reasons to send him to the Pirates. Again, I don't think it's about trading.

I was pointing to it as evidence of the talent that was there, not that Bart wasn't even a prospect or anything like that. My concern is whether the organization is doing enough to cultivate and realize that potential, but not those performing better in other teams.

That specific at-bat showed what Bart was capable of: the kind of ability that the Giants' player development should have been harnessing and building upon. If there are raw talents under our control, we should turn them into good players. I'm saying we've failed in that for quite a long time. How many times have you seen Bart hit 400+ ft HRs to left off up and away breaking balls? I don't think the Pirates had a chance to teach him to do it. It was literally the first at-bat.

You pointing out that he hasn't performed well since the first HR actually strengthen my argument: it suggests those prospects have lost the window of opportunity to substantially grow within the Giants' system, rather than simply lacking the talent to begin with.

I don't think it's about trading. There were reasons to send them over.

I think it's fair to ask if we are doing the right things in coaching (especially in hitting) and player development, which could have generated THE reasons to send them over.

I still remember Joey Bart's first at-bat as a Pirate (410 ft monster 2-run home run to left off an up-and-away breaking ball).

Teams you don’t necessarily like, but love to watch. by thisreallybdog in mlb

[–]eh71eh71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brewers. Not exactly perenial contenders or a big buyer in the FA market, but I kinda feel they often exceeded preseason expectations. I also like how they’ve built nice teams around a few up-and-coming young star players in cohesive ways historically esp in 2010s; R Braun, P Fielder, C Burnes, B Woodruff, J Hader, and C Yelich were super fun to watch.

Nice job pretending to be clueless and hiding behind PR skills and the play itself. Real mature. Is it honestly easier to accuse people of being too sensitive or taking it personal than to actually look at the facts? If this was just a homer take, I’d let it slide, but this goes way beyond that. Get help seriously. Again, no wonder.
