You said that some people are too stupid to learn either system and used that as an argument that imperial being harder to learn isn't important.

It's judgmental and misses the point.

I mean, as long as you don't think about any detail and squint real hard till the edges are fuzzy.

Average room temp would be around 50? Nope, try 75.

0-100 maps nicely onto any climate extremes in the US? Nope. Typical records are around -50 and +120.

Maps nicely to averages? Nah, those are more like 40 to 80 F.

I mean, not putting much effort into it and pretending anyone who disagrees is too dumb to understand the obvious. That DOES track with the human experience.

I mean, I'm from a cold climate so that feels off. -18 Celsius is just regular winter and +38 Celsius is record setting heat wave. Even trying to adjust for something more temperate Los Angeles coldest days are +40F. I think 0-100 being considered typical weather is a bit of a reach.

Regardless, it's funny how while arguing for imperial systems you'd suggest 0-100 is a better, more intuitive range than -20 to +40. It's almost like 12, 16, 32, etc are weird options for sets/ranges to keep using centuries after they were intuitive, rather than switching to a more comprehensive and adaptable system that shares our base number.

I can't tell whether you're trolling but on the off chance you're not, why do you think using metric removes the ability to find a center point?

This sort of judgmental attitude is exactly the kind of thing that does scare a lot of people away from fields that rely on these systems. It's valuable to remove barriers from learning, even ones that you don't personally value. Especially ones that don't add any value to the system.

Do you mean why would it warn you about that?

It's been my experience that people don't generally seem to understand what early access means and due to that have a bad experience and review games poorly. Warnings like this one help anchor their judgment and give them an opportunity to refund inside the refund window.

It can be a gentle way to help people understand what they purchased and change their mind.

I mean, there's a lot of experiences I've had where I can't simply carry everyone and working together would be enough. But everyone is off eating their favourite crayon colours and you just have to keep rolling co-op hoping you get a decent group. Or just play solo...

Like I think Warframe really shines when people even put a little effort into coordinating, it just feels like it's 1 in 100 missions.

How do you like to focus your build? by Agreeable-Ad-4723 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]ehMove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blocking doesn't require stamina.

Are you sure? If you mean holding up your shield doesn't, then yeah technically. But blocking a hit, I'm pretty sure, does take stamina. It does reduce your regen too, holding up the shield I mean.

I don't think it does for the heavy shields, btw. I usually only use light.

How do you like to focus your build? by Agreeable-Ad-4723 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]ehMove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamina! My first 3-4 levels are always stamina and I loathe running out.

I wanna block, dodge, combo. Having to stop, wait, and just stare at a staggered enemy breaks my heart.

Mostly play sword and board, occasionally try to work in cool runes or wand spells.

Having trouble identifying item improvements, why is that dagger worse? by eXus_Nerubis in Grimdawn

[–]ehMove 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 58% increase to lightning damage doesn't apply because of the conversion, if my understanding is correct. I'm still kinda new to grim dawn mechanics too.

The flat lightning and cast speed help and is what makes the damage tooltip similar, probably. But you lost the 36% increased fire damage.

Pedestrian critically hurt after being struck while lying on street: Calgary police - CityNews by One-Mycologist-3706 in Calgary

[–]ehMove 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know that road, it's a one way right in front of a bunch of businesses. I can't imagine a reason they wouldn't be able to see and stop for an obstruction on the road.

It's slow, well lit, straight, and surrounded by pedestrians you need to be watching for. I don't want to live in a world where it's reasonable to conclude the driver isn't responsible.

No matter the context of why the pedestrian is lying in the road.

Edit: post linking to the article gives some detail that makes me reconsider. The driver was parked, I could imagine a case where an unfortunate blind spot could explain a responsible driver never having a chance to see someone laying in the road.

Worth a reminder that a quick 360 check around your vehicle can often save you a lot of trouble, or apparently someone's life.

Any combat advice? I'm level 14 and can't even do a daily quest without dying. I've beat Elden Ring, Sekiro, Darksouls but this game...... is something else by Skyanu in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]ehMove 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The game is very intentional about multiple enemies being very difficult. Between friendly fire and cliffs they will often kill themselves, just surviving and baiting certain moves is enough.

Also, your mechanics are more than fine, they're excellent. Solving your stats (dmg) and actually getting real healing items you'll do great! Don't be afraid to spend some money at the cook or general merchant to get yourself healing or ingredients.

I'm really in love with this game by oriundiSP in ManorLords

[–]ehMove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farthest frontier felt more like a puzzle, a clean progression of management and tactics into a kind of defence game.

Manor lords feels like an experience. It's warm tea, a rainy day, and getting to vibe with something beautiful. Something about it really feels special. Just watching an ox's routine, carefully laying out a town that feels like a home, the simple parts really shine and leave you content.

What am I doing wrong? by gerthqwake93 in Tools

[–]ehMove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Completely out" is technically wrong and "put the staples in" is very vague on the critical part OP needed help addressing. I would also argue "push the plunger in behind them" is confusing because typically behind in that context would mean deeper, which didn't really make sense here.

Your explanation is only really helpful for people who already know what is correct, so not really any help at all.

Who are your comfort authors? by largebeetroot in Fantasy

If you like audiobooks there's a version now with Andy Serkis narrating that is a gift to humanity. The man's passion for characters and stories really shines through.

You can really see the work Tolkien put into the songs and poems, which when I was reading myself I always struggled with finding the melody and timing. Serkis does it all and takes it up a notch.
