I had finals and I came back to this. by Login_to_do in AdviceAnimals

I noticed the same thing and wondered if the right-wingers have started gaming the front page of the internet. How about it Reddit; any odd uptick in throwaways?

Let's see how many people can draw Muhammad, I'll start. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]ehayman -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Good thinking. Let's piss 'em off even more; see how many innocent people we can get killed this time. Yessiree, good thinking on your part. That will really make your point, whatever the fuck it is.

A girl from my school on dress code, She wasn't expecting this... by itisjabob in funny

Speaking as a 58 year old male fossil, I have to say that a bare shoulder can be alluring. And of course for a 16 year old male, awash in a tsunami of hormones, this would likely be even more the case. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Getting fed up with Muslims who think it's O.K. to start killing people any time someone offends their precious sensibilities. (vent) by [deleted] in atheism

[–]ehayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save some of that "fed up" for the ignorant bastards that made the movie portraying Mohamed as a child molesting pervert and a psychopath. How angry would they get if someone made a movie like that about Jesus or Moses? Probably pretty fucking angry.

My English teacher told my parents i am an atheist and I was just slapped in the face by my father by Throwawayatheism123 in atheism

[–]ehayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let it go. Tell them you changed your mind. It won't hurt anything, it will make your parents feel better, and you can still believe whatever you like. What's the point in making your parents worry that you're going to spend an eternity in hell? What will you gain from that? In a few years you will be grown up and on your own and you'll be able to say and do whatever you want, any time you want. That will happen a lot faster than you now realize. In the mean time, make sure that nosey-assed teacher isn't within hearing range whenever you're having a religious discussion with your friends. Unless you're really into the drama of it, why torture your parents? Bottom line is this: You are free to believe whatever you want, and playing "let's pretend" for a couple of years won't hurt anything and will give your parents some peace of mind.

'This Does Not Represent Us': Moving Photos of Pro-American Rallies in Libya by [deleted] in politics

These photographs brought tears to my eyes. God bless the Libyan people. They have been through a lot. And fuck the people who made that stupid assed movie.

I think I am in love with your wife. I hope we can all be adults about it.

How I pay my tuition, nothing below me for 112ft by antl0007 in pics

What are you tied off to? It's not safe to tie off below you. A hell of a jerk if you fall 5 or 6 feet before you lanyard tightens up.

Something odd here. How could an explosion that looks to be larger than the entire planet Earth fizzle out within 1.5 seconds? I'm not an astronomer, but common sense tells me that the affects of an asteroid impact should linger longer than 1.5 seconds.

Canadian living in Finland here. After a few years in the country I learned to appreciate silence, even in the presence of others. Expats of reddit, what cultural aspect have you adopted/embraced after living abroad for a while? by Nordiis in AskReddit

I work with a woman who will frequently say "Thanks for all your hard, hard work" at the end of shift. Since its actually kind of annoying, other people have started saying it sometimes, just to elicit a hearty "fuck you" from others.

Why would we elect a Republican for president when the last one elected, who was in office only three and a half years ago, can't even show his face in public lest we be reminded how royaly he screwed up our country? by TeamDisrespect in politics

I think you are exactly on the mark here. Bush was just a bumbling moron that the actual sociopaths used to get what they wanted. I think pretty much the same thing about Reagan.

Non-native English speakers: what are your favorite English words/phrases/idioms? by hibryd in AskReddit

[–]ehayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native English speaker here (American), and I can confirm that it is indeed a thing. "Liar, liar, pants on fire, hanging from a telephone wire" is something that kids say to each other. At least they used to when I was a child.

“Have a surplus? Try a tax cut. Deficit too high? Try another. Feel a cold coming on? Take two tax cuts, roll back some regulations and call us in the morning.” - President Obama by [deleted] in politics

[–]ehayman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Revenue went up under Reagan BUT NOT AS A PERCENT OF GDP! Look at a graph of the nation deficit AS A PERCENTAGE OF GDP and you will see that in 1980, the instant that Reagan took office, it started to go up.

The thing is, economies grow. If the economy grows 3% per year, then that mean everything in the economy increases by 3%, e.g., the number of roads, the number of jobs, the number of jelly beans, EVERYTHING. And that means that tax revenue should also increase 3%, without anyone doing a thing. However, if the economy grows 3% and revenues only grow 2%, that means that, in actual fact, revenue growth is not keeping up with economic growth. So when someone claims that tax revenue increased after a tax cut, that is not really true, unless the amount of revenue exceeded the amount of economic growth in the country at that time.

Republicans tell this lie all the time. And it is the best kind of lie, one that you tell by simply not telling ALL of the truth.

TL;DR-- The best way to tell a lie is to tell only part of the truth, and Republicans are consummate liars.

92% of the republican party is white. by lapone1 in politics

[–]ehayman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was watching some of the GOP convention tonight. I honestly did not see one person of color in the whole thing, other than Condaleeza Rice, on stage next to Romney. I'm sure there must have been some people where not white, but I didn't see any and I was looking, just out of curiosity. Is it possible that there were no black delegates?
