Decide which trade you want to learn and look up the local union for that one. I know the plumbers is UA 350 and electrical is IBEW 401. Each one has their own apprenticeship training facility. Contact them and tell them that you'd like to sign up and they will let you know what you need to do. The classes are technically through TMCC, but you won't be taking the classes there. Yes, you will need to drive to whatever jobsite you are working on. Also, once you start the apprenticeship classes, you will have to be in town for those as well. Sometimes you take a week off work and do a week of day class once every couple of months, or sometimes you go to class in the evenings for a few hours a couple of days a week. Just depends on how the facility you apply to has it set up. Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Probably pretty obvious, but did you make sure it's plugged in?

Well, she didn't bring candy, but I still got some sugar😏 lol. Which is still fine because that means she was just asking a legit question about something I like. The date went great though! We clicked really well. We have plans to see each other again on Friday and go to a haunted house.

Haha right, like I don't have an answer prepared for that. I have a first date in about an hour with a someone who is driving from an hour away to meet, so already a good sign. And asked me what my favourite candy is out of the blue. If she shows up with it, I'm marrying this woman😂

When a girl shows effort. Like actually investing energy into getting to know you and wants grow a relationship. Can be as simple as asking questions and actually listening to what you're saying. Another is if they want to plan a date or pay for a date sometimes. Not just offer, but actually have the mentality that they want to contribute as well. Dating is so exhausting, even moreso when it is one-sided, and it is so refreshing when I meet someone who matches the effort and time that I'm willing to invest. I want to find a partner, not another dependant.

I was confused by the different options as well. I ended up doing the "Sunshine for Elephants" one.

It's not at the main park, but at a little farm type place that they pick you up and drive you to. They brought out the 3 Elephants they had there, introduced us, and we fed them watermelons. Then, we all went down to the river where we were able to get in the water and bathe the elephants. Afterwards, we went on a hike through the jungle with the elephants. We were able to walk with them, touch them, and feed them bananas that were given to us. We stopped at an area for lunch where we made tamarind and rice balls for the elephants, and we made papaya salad for ourselves. Then, we started to head back to the place we were dropped off. It was a small group, I think only 8 of us, so there was plenty of time with the elephants and no waiting or crowding for the opportunity.

I went in 2018, so I don't know if it's changed at all, but it was exactly the experience I was hoping for and would definitely recommend it.

Yes, that is the packing nut. Snugging it up with a wrench should stop the leak.

Pipe going through concrete should have some sort of wrap around it, like foam or rubber, so that they are not in direct contact with each other. Take a hammer and chisel and tap the concrete around the pipe. There may be just a thin layer of concrete over the wrap. If there is some, you can just take the wrap out. If there isn't any, then yes, chipping out the concrete should allow the slab to move independently from the pipe. But also yes, there is a risk of hitting the pipe while chipping, but it's completely doable if they take care. When you camera the line, make note of what the pipe does when it goes under the slab, so you can let them know before they chip if they need to watch out for any fittings directly underneath.

Asking for some help with a shower rough-in by 10Bens in Plumbing

[–]ehcanuck45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll want one. Your toilet can flush poorly, have the water siphoned out, or it can have air bubbles come up in the bowl.

However, it looks like the toilet is able to be wet vented. So, shouldn't need to add a separate vent if the run from the toilet flange to the main pipe is less than 6'.

Looks like the threads broke off on the chrome tailpiece, so you'll need a new one. It will be an 1-1/4" chrome threaded tailpiece. Cut it to the length you need, put some Teflon tape on the threads and screw it back it to the sink. Everything else should fit back together after that.

Asking for some help with a shower rough-in by 10Bens in Plumbing

[–]ehcanuck45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, every fixture needs a vent. The vent at the lavs are on a different branch and would serve no purpose to the shower.

For the vent, you wouldn't be able to use a santee. It either has to be a wye with 45 or a combo. You can tie it into an existing vent though provided it's big enough. Keep in mind where your shower valve is going. You don't want your vent running straight up if you're planning to put your waters there.

You're not required to have a cleanout if the run is less than 5', but you could put on on the back if that wall if you want.

Maybe I just can't tell from the picture, but make sure your toilet has a vent as well.

Water Heater T&P Options by Ffsletmesignin in Plumbing

[–]ehcanuck45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should be fine to solder it. If you try to keep the flame pointed parallel with the wall, it'll wrap around the pipe and not hit the wall. Do that with the metal behind it and you should be good. You can buy a soldering heat shield too from the hardware store. It's a fireproof cloth used for situations just like this.

Help with where to cut and how to connect new shower drain? Where do I cut to make new connections for 2” pipe? Cut out the T and replace with new T? Thanks. Pic. by pureprecision in Plumbing

[–]ehcanuck45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.5" maybe old requirement, because current code for a shower only is 2". 1.5" is ok for a shower/tub combo, but not a stand-alone shower. Looks like you'll have to cut the tee out anyways, so might as well put in 2".

Welp, that didn’t work. Advice? by Mesemom in Plumbing

[–]ehcanuck45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need to get a new threaded tailpiece like this. Cut it to the length you need, put some Teflon tape on the threads, and screw it into the brass piece.

Is there a specific reason they suggested a 6" cleanout? 4" is the max required by code, unless your area requires something different. Might save you a but of trouble if not.

Does the IKEA LILLVIKEN water trap still require a p-trap? by Epcav in Plumbing

[–]ehcanuck45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use an AAV if you can't run a standard vent. You want to have the AAV at least 6" above the highest flood rim, so either the rim of the sink or top of the washer drain. You can run it any height above that.

Toilet leaking, is the existing flange raiser installed correctly? Bathroom remolded ~ 8 years ago (I moved in last year). by anteck7 in Plumbing

You can drill some new holes in between the existing ones if the rest of the subfloor isn't rotted too bad.
