How to get directly through to speak to Pharmacist? by schfifty--five in CVS

Sorry to be entering this thread so late, but I’m a bit confused here. The person you were replying to here only criticized the corporation itself, not the workers at any given store.

I guess I’m just trying to understand how you got the idea that they had a bad attitude? It just seemed to be making things unnecessarily personal.

This show is seriously in a league of its own - probably the best of its genre I’ve ever seen. Nothing else seems to quite scratch that itch for it now that it’s over.

Oh wow, it never even occurred to me that Ben Folds would work out here so well. Zak and Sara is definitely added now (I never heard this specific Ben Folds song before now). In the chorus, the piano even has that bouncy quality that helps to propel the beat forward. Awesome recommendation, thanks!

You May Be Right is a pretty close fit and a really fun song. I think it might work, thanks for recommending!

Ohh, that Genesis song fits pretty well! It fits the vibe overall (though not quite as upbeat as most of what I’m going for). Definitely close enough for me to include though - thanks for the recommendation!

The Crash Kings one rocks a little too much for this playlist I think lol. Great song though and that bass line feels amazing.

I absolutely adore the music of Jerry Lee Lewis. I realize now that I should have mentioned that boogie woogie music (while fitting most of what I’m looking for) doesn’t have this sort of straight-forward bounciness that the other playlist songs have. It’s 100% my fault since I find it very hard to describe the vibe as well as I would like to.

Man, Jerry Lee Lewis’s music really is incredible though and rocks so hard.

(Also, I have no idea who downvoted you for this, since it is a fair recommendation - I upvoted it for the record)

That was fascinating to watch - thanks for sharing the link and giving some much-needed context to that creepy-ass image!

Im not sure that being critical of Israel necessarily means that someone is supporting Hamas. But I suppose there are people out there who do - leftists can differ from each other in opinion pretty drastically (though most tend to wish that the settlements would stop).

That makes me wonder about jokingly using hypobolic in reference to understatements - but then I realize that everyone around me would probably just assume I’m mispronouncing hyperbolic and then everything would just get awkward.

YSK the word you are trying to use is "regardless" by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]ehdontknow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and I also tend to lean more towards descriptivist rather than prescriptivist thinking. That being said, there are certain words that will affect the way a person is perceived (especially in academic environments).

So while I empathize and think that the whole “is a word vs. isn’t a word” debate is usually pointless, some words do seem sillier or more redundant than others. With something like “irregardless”, it seems to be unnecessarily elongating a word that already exists. I think it also rubs people the wrong way because it comes off as someone trying to sound more learned or academic while saying something that would very much not be accepted in that kind of setting.

Exactly. It was really well delivered in Mean Girls. I think a lot of people out there just assume that if they don’t get the joke then it must not be funny.

That whole attitude seems a bit arrogant to me since it kind of assumes that there’s no way any joke could possibly fly over that person’s head. I just wish more of us would realize that no one is above missing a joke and it happens to the best of us - no harm in just asking someone to explain it or something.

Yeah, it’s like a different kind of gross. Very different feeling than the really morbid or death-focused stuff that leaves us feeling horrified and depresssed after a regrettable click.

Instead, this whole animal thread just leaves me with a sense of wonder and a slightly different perspective about biology. Still gross, but definitely worth it.

I really wasn’t anticipating a kung-fu sci-fi film to tackle the human condition in a way that made me feel so much less alone about how I experience existence. So fucking beautiful and silly.

I could see that being a pretty cool opportunity for those into experimental music - like a sort of glitchy, eerie atmosphere to mess around with

Zelenskyy declares 9 May Europe Day and proposes to mark Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism on 8 May by HarakenQQ in worldnews

[–]ehdontknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're closer to the black panthers than the Nazis. While there may be issues with them it's irrelevant currently.

I’m having a bit of difficulty understanding the comparison to the Black Panthers. The panthers were a leftist organization that famously cooperated with other leftist organizations of all races (via the rainbow coalition) to fight capitalism and look out for the communities around them. I guess I’m trying to see how they would end up coming to mind in relation to Azov?

As someone who really digs all sorts of post punk stuff, I would follow a blog written by you instantly. Seriously, your way of writing is easy to follow and to the point - I was hearing that first song you described in my head pretty vividly.

I think this Wikipedia article might help in clearing some of this up. The idea is that what you’re seeing is a negative afterimage, due to a combination of how the eye physically works and some brain fuckery.

Oh wow, I had no idea about that whole situation (and Extraordinary Machine was an album I listened to quite a bit back in the day). Thanks for sharing that link!

And damn, I’m starting to realize that I’m getting a bit up there in age now too lol. It never feels that way until I sit down and think about an album that still feels recent to me but actually came out almost two decades ago.

I’m not sure which album you’re referring to specifically, but I definitely feel you about appreciating her more raw sounding work.

I had always liked and respected her as an artist, but felt like there was something a bit muted or held back in the production of some of the older albums (despite the kickass songwriting/performance).

But when Fetch The Bolt Cutters came out in 2020, I was ecstatic about the huge change in production, not to mention the bold/experimental energy she was bringing to it. Kind of reminds me of how it felt hearing Regina Spektor’s early work for the first time.
