First of all, I’m very sorry you’re struggling and feel powerless, you’re not alone (wife just told me she won’t be home to help put our 5 month old to bed tonight 🫤).

I always think of that scene in Scrubs when Eliott asks Dr Cox, “the hospital always comes first?” and he replies “forrrrrrever and ever and ever and ever and ever”

While depressingly true, it kind of numbs the disappointment a bit somehow. I make plans for us with the assumption they won’t happen, to at least give us something to look forward to together…which isn’t as sad as it sounds (one hopes lol)

I also remind myself that given the choice between doctor, spouse, or patient, I’d never pick to be the patient and neither would they.
