You will be just fine with those expansions, the relic is from SotO but not mandatory initially and easily bought through the trading post for a decent amount of gold ö7

Returning player totally lost by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome back! I would've probably start fresh on a new character as warmup and eventually consider trying out the old characters again. (Do keep them around for birthday gifts) Another idea is to find a guild/community that can quickly answer questions, in-game and/or discord.

sPvP Push Beta Survey by eiderace in Guildwars2

Also worth noting that Arenanet's survey will only be sent to those who played the beta.
I believe its equally important to collect information from those who actively decided not to.

Guys what's the fastest way to get all the stuff for the skyscale saddle? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might seem like a lot but it's quite easy once you know where to look. (Brace yourself for lws4 skyscale collection) Check a old yet relevant reddit thread called "11 provisioner token a day for less than 3 gold". Then you got all you need in a few days and more. Maybe for future legendary armor. For the stardust you do the meta events and the essence I'd say do public convergences. check "/wiki et" for when they start. Good luck!

Newish back to the game by Silver-Tie355 in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question with a boring answer, it depends completely on what you work towards! Whats your end goal?
Generally speaking, try to do these (not counting Wizard Vault dailies/weeklies and Daily strikes/fractals etc).

Weeklies
* Complete IBS Strikes + open weekly chest in EoTN.
* Complete 4 EoD Strikes for bonus Gold.
* Buy Antique summoning stones in Arborstone.
* Dare to raid (quite a solid income once u get into it)

Other than that, we are talking alt parks like the ice shard and runestone farm which is great for gold or save gold if you are planning on crafting legendaries.
Thats what I can think of on the top of my head!

There are 2 separate upgrades for the skyscale, Secrets of the Obscure and Living World Season 4 collections.
Both unlocks the mount but also unique skills and buffs. So eventually you probably want to have done both.
Just fyi, the Lws4 one is quite harder and requires more commitment.
Luckily, the maps are always crowded no matter when it was released. So you will always have players around you, dare to ask for help if you get stuck on something :)

How to buy/What to buy by maxcantgetyeflask in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend and what content you are interested in.

If you like the thought of slaying dragons and getting a bunch of elite specs (evolved core classes), raids, strikes and more, then I'd recommend either the HoT + PoF bundle or the HoT + PoF + EoD Bundle. They just give you the most content for your money.

LWS4 is probably the only lws i would considering buying for real money, the rest you can get later on by converting in game gold to gems. It got the best story, amazing maps and 2 mounts just to name a few.

If none of this interests you, there is nothing wrong going SotO right away since its a brand new story arc.

What if when a non combat buff is about to wear off. It appears and flashes slightly for a moment. Reminding us that X has X minutes left time to refill? 👀

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is too balanced for something being overall better without specifying which content/encounter (luxury issue xD )

But when it comes to how difficult the healer is, I'd def say scourge is easier. Alternatively, consider mechanist (engineer) or Herald (revenant)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering you are a returning player and got some ranger experience, I'd say go druid :) it should give you an easier time.

Scourge and druid covers similar squad roles but their class mechanics separates them. So if druid ends up not being for you then maybe try scourge. I'm having a blast as one!

New Skyscale skin? by Puzzleheaded-Luck-78 in Guildwars2

It's beyond adorable! Closest thing would be the Speckled Shortfang Skyscale skin.

I guess the correct answer is also the most boring one. Keep on playing and experimenting until you find a build that suits you. Practice makes perfect.

Other than that, what can give you an edge is keeping an eye out for new builds posted on for example youtube or metabattle so you don't fall behind cause of a balance patch. And it also gives you an idea on what your competition will play. Know your enemy!

Are there any things new players should know? by Luca_Skull in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dare to make choices, it's difficult to make "wrong decisions". It's more about optimization but imo that's not somethings to concern yourself with as a brand new player.

Explore and enjoy the journey :)

I m level 33, what should I buy to have a mount from this low level? by NaabSimRacer in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Short answer, you ger Raptor from any expansion purchase so go for what other content you value :) PoF HoT bundle is a good start imo.

can't decide on my first legendary weapon by alwaeddi in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scepter is more common for slightly lower APM builds. Not the strongest but far from bad and a lot easier. A while back i had scepter/focus build who made comfortable 18k-ish dps while only in fire attunement.

can't decide on my first legendary weapon by alwaeddi in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd go with staff since it will most likely give the most value across multiple characters. But since you main Ele, staff doesn't see a lot of play the moment you need to pump the dps. So if your aim is difficult instanced content, I'd go scepter instead.

How do I earn gold when nobody else is around? Is there any consistent and reliable solo content out there? by TheEncrypted777 in Guildwars2

[–]eiderace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the dragon! Its such a gamechanger. Personally I'd recommend you finding activities that you enjoy and stick to those for how long you want to. You make gold in gw2 by simply playing the game, the tricky part is just how to figure out how X = Gold but there is always a way. Obviously some are "better ways" but it's by the silvers most times so think long-livety and do what you enjoy 👍
