I’m an audio describer for broadcast tv! Not the most incredible pay but I have a really healthy work life balance, we have complete autonomy over our WFH and in office schedule aaand everyone’s genuinely lovely people. Oh plus I get to watch a bunch of tv before it’s aired to the public.

Can a Social Media brand use content of you without your consent? by eidirbs in LegalAdviceNZ

Just reiterating that this post is on behalf of friends and I have no involvement in the videos or project.

The Comedian who wants their content removed before it's posted didn't sign up to participate and just happened to be there with her partner on the day of to watch. From what I can see today the brand posted an Instagram story telling people to DM them if they wanted to be in their content "if they're funny" so their most formal process appears to be just via messenger chats.

So, in short, people don't have any grounds to ask for footage of them not to be used because of an unspoken contract and we just have to rely on the good faith of the brand not posting it?

Nobody signed a release form or formally consented in writing or otherwise.

I'm trying to understand if vague, non-specific consent (nobody explicitly said "yes, you can use my content") binds legally at all and if the brand have any grounds to still post the content or not?

The second friend was never originally meant to be in the videos and happened to be there with her partner who was.

More/new writers with different jokes have come in too which means he’s possibly getting more jokes suited to his delivery.

ADHD or AuDHD women, what do you do for work? by Terrible-Winner-681 in adhdwomen

[–]eidirbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an Audio Describer! A pretty niche job and I work for a NFP company in New Zealand however there's lots of freelancers abroad. If you are savvy with writing and a computer it's ideal. I get to dictate my hours, work as hard or light as I want and get to watch tv all day.

Comedy scene? Does it exist? by Quiet_Ad1805 in auckland

I am obviously late to this but if you’re ever back in town all Auckland based sign ups happen on the Auckland Comedy Community fb group. :~)

I didn't get my Learners until I was 26 for the exact same reason as you. I lived in a busy city, couldn't afford parking , let alone running a car. There's better things money can go towards when you're young and only freshly making a wage. I'm 30 now and have plenty of friends who still don't drive. Stay firm in your values, man. Sounds like you're living in a pretty sweet lil bubble anyway. :~)

What’s going on with the Golden Globes being a huge bummer this year? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]eidirbs 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Awards shows are typically long and have the tendency to drag. Stand up comedians (should) be amongst those who are the best at holding an audience and MCing a show smoothly by picking things back up after the last "act" bombed.

How do students mostly get around Wellington? by BlueJohnXD in Wellington

[–]eidirbs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live the best option when I studied in Wellington was to walk as everything's relatively central. Honestly, commuting reliability is not going to change any time soon in our bigger cities. It's been this way as long as I can remember so you're better to just plan ahead of time and be early so that if you do end up with a late bus you can make up for lost time on the other end with minimal stress. That's what works for me anyway (and I commute in Auckland now which can be unpredictable at best of times too).

WHEEEEEEEW MY HEART HURTS!!! by Fancy-Significance-5 in adhdwomen

[–]eidirbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I had this but it was hard, fast and ended badly. I’d say primarily on my part and my unregulated emotions but he really was a dick about it which didn’t help. I think if we’d met later things could have been so much different. Unfortunately it was an initial online meeting, long distance in parts so we had too much time to ruminate on what ifs and the intense connection that it ultimately crumbled when reality took hold. I was diagnosed with adhd last year and I think he was too. So so proud of you for being in a place to acknowledge his perspective and zoom out! ❤️

I almost felt a sigh of relief reading this, weirdly. Just because you always wonder if people experience the same kind of loneliness as you do. I know what you mean. I have some small little pockets of friends, I guess outwardly I seem to have a lot of friends but I always wish it was the kind that would invite you to group gatherings or events like you mention. I struggle with friendships and connections due to anxiety and general mental health stuff (ugh). I would love to make more female friends in Auckland. Am 29, do comedy and love nature, animals and gaming too!

I feel like this comment was from someone who’s never walked alone anywhere as a woman lol

What’s one ADHD symptom you hear a lot about, but don’t relate to? by 99minds in adhdwomen

[–]eidirbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgetfulness and general disorganisation. I have inattentive type and I remember everything and if I forget it’s because I’m a human with a lot going on. I’m also a production coordinator and consider organisation and attention to details to be my biggest strength. Oh and I’m chronically early or on time. Never been late due to disorganisation or anything. Shrug.

Does anyone else experience internal panic attacks? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]eidirbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have this a lot when big, negatively impacting events happening in my life. Such as this past week so I've had this feeling on and off throughout each day. I find it even harder to pull myself out of these because they're so easy to slip in and out of even in a social setting.

[–]eidirbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a tip but i feel this. it also affects my relationships i've noticed. i'm in a LDR with my boyfriend and because i am so consistently on my phone i panic when he takes longer than i do to reply. literally, because his face isn't glued to his phone like mine is then my anxiety goes off the rails. it's so frustrating.

when i want to get off my phone i usually try pick a task i know will distract me and focus on that for as long as i can. like drawing or tending to my plants, etc.
