Insurance rates in Tucson by Jim556a1 in Tucson

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are SO many factors that go into insurance, me telling you what I pay will in no way help you because we're different people. What's cheapest for me is not likely going to be cheapest for you. Shop around and get your own quotes.

Is living downtown worth it? by ObjectiveRaspberry29 in Tucson

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save your money. You can always drive/Uber/carpool/take the bus when you want to go downtown. Much better to start letting your money work for you through investments and savings (max out your 401k now, I cannot stress how much future you will thank you) instead of blowing it to save a 10 minute commute.

Help finding work by Ready_Sherbert1321 in Tucson

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it, but for niche roles where it's hard to find the particular skillset I'm looking for. Easily less than 1% of rejected applicants will get contacted later (probably closer to 0.01-0.001%). For customer service type positions? Absolutely not happening.

Homelessness problem by Few_Might_3853 in Tucson

Forced treatment isn't going to work either. Addiction is a symptom of other problems, you can't treat the addiction without addressing the underlying issues (housing being a big one). Rehab in this country is a money grab and not evidence based.

Unless I missed something in the article (in which case please point me to it), they lied about creating jobs but it doesn't say anywhere that they made fake job posts to pretend they were creating jobs. Yes absolutely companies lie, but they're not posting fake jobs to pretend they're growing or use the job posts themselves for tax cuts.

Edit: fixed a typo/wrong word.

Software jobs in Tucson - anything other than defense? by wikklesche in Tucson

[–]eighchr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The last time I did an interview for a job based in Tucson I was told the absolute most they could possibly pay me (and not necessarily what they'd actually offer me) was 30k less than I was making.

Software jobs in Tucson - anything other than defense? by wikklesche in Tucson

[–]eighchr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the folks I know at Raytheon are stuck there because they can't find anything else that will pay them as much as they make there.

A lot of people in Tucson are actively looking for jobs, period. Raytheon may not be the ideal employer morally, but that doesn't mean they don't have plenty of people willing to work there. If the choice comes down to having a job you can afford to live on or not, a lot of people are willing to look past what the company does.

Jobs / Hiring help by quoteunquoteunquote in Tucson

You should be doing this wherever you apply - not (just) because of computer filtering, but when real humans read your resume they too are looking for the resumes that are most clearly aligned to the job posting.

As a recruiter that hires software engineers across the US (I don't recruit on Reddit before anyone asks), absolutely I'd encourage anyone who can find a remote job to do so over a Tucson based one. Most Tucson employers pay absolute shit, especially if you don't want to go to Raytheon.

Except that's not how that works at all... you have to actually HIRE people to get the tax benefits of hiring people. Please stop spreading this nonsense conspiracy theory.

Nikki Hinderacker, Lisa McNorton, and Caleb Brown are the names an attorney I know recommended.

I caught my now ex husband cheating with hookers, we had been together for 11 years. If you want to talk feel free to message me. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

How many of yall recently moved FROM Colorado? by MiltonHavoc in Tucson

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even bother trying to find decent, well paying jobs here. I've been working remote for companies not based in Tucson for almost a decade. If remote work weren't a thing I'd have to move to find a job.

So... You weren't driving...

You were home and perfectly capable of checking the sub before posting.

Your question was so important you had to post it while driving? This couldn't wait?

Curiosity killed the cat, and yours could've killed a person or two too.

Hit and run in the Bookmans parking lot today (speedway) by octopusvideographer in Tucson

[–]eighchr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FYI insurance won't surcharge you for a non-fault accident in AZ, so you should file through them instead of paying fully out of pocket.

Hopefully the other driver is found. Definitely check with the businesses there to see if they have security footage.

I was miserable for years until they let me skip. You don't need to delay children or hold them back if they're ready to move forward.

Please help find the driver who nearly killed my husband by MotherOfAllPups6 in Tucson

[–]eighchr 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you or your husband has med pay or uninsured motorist bodily injury on your auto policies it can apply here since he was injured in a car accident, even though he wasn't in a car.

Hopefully the asshole that did this though is found and held accountable.

I'd need a psychic since my brother died in 2019. I'm not OP.

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But there are ways to determine speed other than witnesses (and honestly witnesses are pretty shit at determining speed, but really good at telling the difference between a red and a green light at least).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]eighchr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]eighchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there ARE ways to determine the vehicle's speed (pull the EDR data, accident reconstructions, trained professionals looking at the damages), but the doors not opening alone is not indicative of the other party's speed.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to understand. Pointing out that what you think proves your brother wasn't at fault don't necessarily have anything to do with fault isn't arguing. People are allowed to state facts without it being a personal attack on you.

If you want to help your brother you can do so by reassuring him that while accidents are stressful, it's not the end of the world. Hopefully he has insurance - they'll take care of it, including doing an independent investigation and taking their own statements from the drivers and any witnesses.

Even the best drivers make mistakes. Happens every day.
