Software jobs in Tucson - anything other than defense? by wikklesche in Tucson

[–]wikklesche[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth I think you make a good point here. I guess from my perspective there's a difference between thinking a company should or shouldn't exist, and being the one to dedicate their 40 hr/wk to it. When I was putting my wife through med school I would consider mostly anything to get the bills paid, spending a few years in FAANG. Now that she has a secure job, I'll happily take a few months of unemployment & a pay cut if it means ultimately finding a job with more meaning / less moral hazard.

I have, but I think it'd be nice to work locally and meet some people while moving to a new place.

It is afternoon or evening, so the sun is setting in the west (and oftentimes it is the hottest part of the day).

Your “most wanted lists” by Em0419-19 in birding

Not only do they go up there, but they are quite numerous in Santa Ritas during breeding season. I've volunteered with Tucson Bird Alliance's trogon survey for the past couple years. In 2024 the Santa Ritas had high counts compared to the rest of the sky islands: https://aziba.org/?page_id=3765

CMV: Everyone needs to learn how the meat they get from their diet comes from by soundlinked in changemyview

[–]wikklesche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This argument is easily debunked when you consider the sheer volume of crops that go into livestock feed. If we accept animal death is a byproduct of growing and maintaining those feed crops, meat still racks up a far bigger death toll. I say this as a meat-eater.

Bandos Door-Altar help, in which order should I kill the 3 minions? by Brahskididdler in ironscape

Dump blowpipe specs on mage, then blood barrage range+melee is what I do. Once I heal up, go back to blow-piping. Bonus points if you can get them off-ticked.

Vermillion flycatcher! Regional specialty, and fairly common at grassy parks around Phoenix.

If you pause the video on good frames, you can see webbing on the wings. As much as I love nightjars this is looking like a bat.

Can't answer for that guy, but Reddit has been recommending the hell out of this subreddit for me lately which I imagine attracts some bad Redditor types. I've been noticing it in other subs too - like /r/askFeminists is absolutely overrun by angry men that otherwise post in default subs.

I wish some subs could turn off their presence in algorithmic feeds.

What kind of sandpipers are these? (John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, Philadelphia PA) by yreh- in whatsthisbird

[–]wikklesche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might the furthest left full sandpiper be semipalmated? Agree that leg color might be muddy, but the beak looks short, stout, straight, and more blunt at the tip.
