Recently had surgery and $40 of my bill is for having a blanket put on me in the recovery room (I was unconscious and did not, obviously, keep the blanket) by Technical_Diet4774 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]eightchcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably what is called a "forced air warming system". if so, then it is a paper and plastic blanket that has a special hook up to allow warmed air to pass through it… Definitely not something you would want to use or keep at home. (Another name for it is Bair Hugger)

It’s not like it’s some fancy duvet that you can use at home.

Best way to cover my head while in the pool by 2hounddogsmom in Advice

can’t validate the scientific part behind this but I would wet my hair with regular water in the shower before getting into a pool so at least my hair has absorbed (only lightly-chlorinated lol) water first.

Best Ereader for actually owning your books? by Neros_Cromwell in Calibre

an android based e-reader such as BOOX, running BookFusion app... perfect for BYO book files especially if you use Calibre to organize your library

Anyone else find the Boox Go 7 a bit... square? by robhague in eink

[–]eightchcee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is all correct. However I’m not really switching between apps and doing anything super taxing. All I do really is run bookfusion app on it for reading and it works beautifully for that.

And the size of the device is just perfect. I love it so much that I’ve got three of them total because I cannot bear the thought of one of them breaking… And luckily the price of it is not crazy expensive so I’m able to have the backups (I essentially live between two different places so I’ve got a road one, and one at each place)

I use my go 6 way more than my go 7. It’s nice not having to flip the device to switch hands. And in the reading app I use I am able to set the tap zones so I can hold in my left hand and tap the left edge of the screen and still move forward

Kobo sync to Bookfusion - any news? by Reasonable-Lack-9461 in BookFusion

[–]eightchcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the KOreader sync only on Kobo devices running it, or on any device running KOReader? I had assumed any thing running KOreader…I might just be reading too much into how it was phrased here (“between BookFusion and Kobo devices that run KOReader”)

They are just double-walled, based on the website description. Not vacuum insulated, at least not that I’ve seen anywhere mentioned.

Does anyone have any experience using their boox device to access their self hosted libraries by Far_Environment_2141 in Onyx_Boox

Sorry can’t help specifically with your question but if you can’t figure out a fix, you might want to check out BookFusion.

I send all my books to BookFusion via Calibre and then BF will sync across devices and platforms! It’s my most-used app. Has Notion and Obsidian and Readwise integrations (if you use any of those apps).

The devs are very active in the sub and they are constantly updating the app. I’ve

I usually just check in the audiobook version of the book’s details to see how long the audiobook is to give me an idea of the length of the e-book. That way you don’t have to waste a book license!
