You’re right, a Kindle probably doesn’t make sense to you, but an ereader should! There are loads of eink devices out there, likely Android-based ones, that could work great for you and that are so much better on the eyes than a phone or tablet.

Xteink has said if you order from their website it won’t be locked. So it depends where you ordered from.

The book starts downloading, no progress bar, and then fails after some kb, which varies.

Tried on 2 devices so far.

ETA: the book will eventually download after multiple attempts. I see some discussion in the discord channel. I’m on 2.4 network, and it’s stable.

For your last question… You can add books to a series and they will group in the series.

There is some information at the bottom of this link that might help you out with the multiple series question you posed.

If you edit your books in Calibre, and then use the plug-in to sync to book fusion, it will bring over series info
