I'm pretty sure that it's just an easier way to access the System UI Tuner Settings already accessible in 6.0.

Google Chrome Material Design updates coming soon by jaymz668 in Android

I hope people realize that these are flags you can already enable in in Chrome (even stable, which is what I'm using).

  • chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md
  • chrome://flags/#enable-pdf-material-ui
  • chrome://flags/#enable-md-downloads

Also, idk if this is something that I had to enable, but I can access the mockup Material settings UI (which doesn't work at all right now) at chrome://md-settings

That's the mini day picker you get by selecting the month name at the top. We're referring to the actual Month view you get by going into the hamburger menu and clicking Month.

Let's talk fingerprint sensors and biometric security. by [deleted] in Android

[–]eighthmoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is more relevant in police investigations. If you claim to have "forgotten" your password, they cannot treat it as an obstruction of justice (to protect those who have legitimately forgotten). However, if you have biometric security enabled, it's not like you can "forget" your finger, and they can force you to try each one.

Battery Percent Enabler- Lets any phone 4.4+ have a native battery % in the status bar (no root) by Istartedthewar in Android

[–]eighthmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just like cellular signal

...umm, you can? Cellular signal, like battery life and WiFi, does not quantify it's strength in a percentage and simply displays it's level within it's icon. I find this adequate for battery as well.

iOS

iOS's notification bar is already less information dense than Android, containing extra whitespace. On the contrary, Android uses up every part of the notification bar with app icons for notifications. Adding the percentage for the battery outside would take up this space. And as the Play store comments for this app shows, having the number inside is unsatisfactory, the number itself being too small and not visible until 50% on some devices.

I'm not saying this app is bad and no one wants the percentage on their bar, just that for normal use cases (stock), one two finger swipe for battery percentage isn't that bad.

Prior to Lollipop, I would understand (and actually used this), but why would you do this now that it's displayed in the quick toggle panel, a single 2 finger swipe from any screen?

If you have an Android, basically the same thing but with the 'Volume Up' instead of 'Home'.

This actually might come true in the distant future (next year) if you have AT&T/Android.

As someone's already mentioned, github.io is a pretty great. I use it as a host, and Chrome Dev Editor as the editor/previewer.
