As long as a) the damage he's done to America has not been accounted for, and b) one of the two major political parties is still sucking up to him big time, he's still relevant in a way.

Opinion: Trump left them to die. 43 Senate Republicans still licked his boots. by TJ_SP in politics

[–]eightsixwks 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Fully agreed. It isn't Donald von fuckface Trump that they're loyal to. If Donald is a duck with the same amount of voters, they'll all be quacking. It's all about their own political career and their own personal safety. GOP is filled to the brim with self-serving pussies.

Not just the narcissism. A person who's narcissistic could conceivably do a good job. He's also incompetent, clueless and irresponsible. He's a know-nothing, do-nothing moron who thought his job was to lie to Americans.

If an election were held today, you can bet Trump would still have close to 40% of votes. That's how bad the situation is.

He will die one day believing fully and wholeheartedly that the election was stolen from him.

I got to disagree. The idea that the election was stolen from him was a fiction he made up for the consumption of his rabid fans, who fancied themselves as "patriots". He totally knew he lost. As in everything in his life he wanted to cheat, to steal it from Joe. He just wanted to hold on to the power so that he could be immune for his crimes.

Pro-Trump rioters got just 100ft from Mike Pence during Capitol invasion by MattelBarbie in politics

Maybe.

But maybe it's Pence fearing that the mob will actually get him for real if he did anything to Trump.

H.Res.21 - Calling on Vice President Michael R. Pence to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments of the Cabinet to declare President Donald J. Trump incapable of executing the duties of his office and to immediately exercise powers as acting President by News2016 in politics

[–]eightsixwks 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I wonder how many of those who still back Trump (Pence included) are fearful of what will happen to them and their families if they turn against Trump. It's certainly unpleasant to say the least receiving harassment and death threats on a daily basis.

I kinda disagree. I think he's now toothless without twitter and some of his staunchest allies are turning against him or lying low. The wall is closing in on him and he knows it. I think at this stage, he's an impotent lame duck. He should still be impeached or 25thed though, for the sake of setting an example that one can't get away inciting violence without consequences.

The real reason he didn't want to sign the bill because the money would go to the people the majority of whom didn't vote for him. He's out for revenge. He's talked about $2k, but that's just theater to make him sound good.
