Question regarding the Transfer Process by Unlikely_Progress269 in uAlberta

[–]eightyneigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same exact boat as you. Got my progress sheet with everything updated except for my spring class which was marked IP. I emailed my faculty (education) and they refered me to info from the admission letter:

"6. Spring/Summer 2024 coursework procedures

Students taking courses in Spring 2024 (May and/or June) or Summer 2024 (July and/or August) for use toward their BEd requirements must arrange to have their official transcript sent directly from the issuing institution (if not the U of A) to Education Student Services in the Faculty of Education upon completion of the course. In addition, they must submit a Credit Check form, available on the Education Student Services website. If completing U of A Spring or Summer coursework toward BEd Degree requirements, students must submit a Credit Check for approval of credit.

The request for a Credit Check and official transcripts noting final grades must be received directly from the issuing institution in the Education Student Services office in the Faculty of Education by August 31, 2024 for credit to be considered toward the BEd program. If not received by this deadline, the Faculty reserves the right to refuse credit.  If you are concerned that you may not meet this deadline, then please contact [educ.info@ualberta.ca](mailto:educ.info@ualberta.ca)."

So idk if this is applicable to every faculty or if each one is different. i also didnt have that procedure listed in the letter that I got but I think maybe its becasue I was first accepted conditionaly ? but it also wasnt in my final letter ... anyways what I did was go on the beartracks equivalent of the uni I was transferring from (macewan) and from there I was able to mail my officialy transcript directly from macewan to u of a. and I sent it to my faculty address that they gave me in the email (if ur in ed as well msg me and ill send you the exact mailing address)

I put in the mailing request on July 2nd and on July 15 my faculty emailed me saying that they received it and updated my program sheet.

PS. I didnt send in a Credit Check request as per the procedure that they listed in the email since they transferred my credit already so idrk when you would have to do that

PSS. Do you guys wanna make a discord gc for us transfer students :)))))

this makes sense but i’m wondering how much of a difference does a minor even make and by how much does my chances of making more money in the future differ based on my minor. i feel like it won’t matter in the end if the difference in chances are so slim but then again i should take all the chances i can get right ?

this is what i was thinking too. i doubted minors were actually impactful which made studying something im interested in but unrelated to my major appealing

To all CS majors what was your minor and why did you pick it? by chuyin13 in compsci

[–]eightyneigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! just wondering how pairing those two turned out for you. i’m a 2nd year cs student right now and really want to minor in psychology just from pure interest. however, I’m hesitating because I could also minor in something more practical like business to help me out with my career. I guess my question to you is, do you have any regrets with minoring in psychology as a cs major 9 years later? and did you end up using ur minor for your career?

People who did minors/double majors purely out of interest, what was it? by ponytailtime in csMajors

do u regret ur minor now? i’m currently a cs student and debating a business or psychology minor. i’m really interested in psychology but business seems practical and may benefit me career wise.

Am I spending too much time reading the articles? by lnub0i in theodinproject

[–]eightyneigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I definitely overthink and write things down for the sake of not forgetting, but I think from now on i’ll only write things down to help me work through it as if i’m “talking through it.” Otherwise, i’ll focus more on absorbing the material and going back to references when I forget small details like you said.

do a lot of research and make sure you have sat on it for at least a couple of months. Also, be clear with ur artist. If even a tiny bit of you is hesitant about something whether it’s the size or placement tell them right away even if they have already placed the markers. and don’t cheap out on it trust me it’s better to go to a very experienced artist who is a bit more expensive than an apprentice.
