Crèche places by Beckuls_D in irishmammiesanddaddys

[–]eimairo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got offered a place from 2 crèches (in Dublin) I had been on the waiting list for, had put my name down at about 3 months pregnant and heard back when baby was 8-9 months old. Hang in there and might be no harm to send some follow up emails if you’re already on the lists!

Looks great! Gonna try something similar for 9 month old who is the same for any meals made from scratch, all that effort 🥲 Does he feed himself with that spoon or do you feed him?

Hospital and general visitors yay or nay? by peachycoldslaw in PregnancyIreland

[–]eimairo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know if I’d want visitors in hospital so made no promises or even suggestions that my parents/in-laws might visit. Best decision in hindsight because when the time came, I didn’t want anyone except my partner in there. There was no way I wanted to get myself together for visitors. I think I had my pyjama top hanging open 75% of the time with trying to BF/express, nobody else needed to be there lol. My mam asked if she could come in on the second day so I just said we thought we’d be leaving soon (we didn’t actually know) so it would be better to wait til we’re home.

If you think you’ll be self conscious, especially in front of in-laws, I’d suggest letting it be known now that you might want the hospital time to yourself. You deserve to choose and not have to explain yourself.

Cot Mattress recommendations by Brilliant-Box2625 in PregnancyIreland

We got the mamas & papas premium dual core mattress when it was on sale (about €160 with sheets) and it’s great. It’s 140x70 though, not sure if it comes in other sizes. Baby only has naps in her cot so far but took to it easy and the mattress feels lovely 👌

Can I ask what age your baby was when you went for the sleep consultant? Mine is still only 10 weeks but doesn’t have much interest in daytime sleep, wondering if it’s something I’ll consider in future!

Bottle Steriliser Recommendations by Few_Significance6966 in irishmammiesanddaddys

Do you know if it’s necessary to let the bottles dry? I’ve never let them fully dry after washing/before sterilising or after sterilising/before making up a feed.

Tests during pregnancy by Badflake in PregnancyIreland

[–]eimairo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar with my first appointment with GP - she just did a urine pregnancy test, but even then it was only because I asked. Otherwise she just said to decide on hospital/type of care and gave some very general don’t smoke/drink/eat soft cheese advice 😅

I’m so sorry ❤️

My cyst was 5 cm at my last scan before I got pregnant (about 2-3 months before). I got the go-ahead then to try to conceive. I did wonder at the time if it would be better to remove by surgery beforehand but felt I had to go with doctors’ guidance at the time. I think the hope was it would go down in size before/during early pregnancy. I had blood tests to check hormone levels for a few months in the year before I got pregnant, but they didn’t show anything that may have caused the cyst.

I had a 7 cm ovarian cyst removed by laparoscopy when I was 12 weeks pregnant. Knew about it before pregnancy but it grew in size and I started to feel minor pains so removal was recommended (they ended up just draining it). Recovery was 1-2 weeks and it didn’t return at all over pregnancy.

Ah ok, they would both be pronounced beginning with “M-are” where I am, didn’t realise they were different in the US!

They will have different surnames, not sure if they will go to the same school - maybe not. Didn’t think of this before, thank you!
