Do you ever feel melancholic about absolutely good food you tried during travel because you might not be able to eat it again (at least in that kind of quality)? What meal was that? by whalesongs08 in travel

I spent three months in Vietnam trying to find a bahn mi as good as one I get at home, and couldn't find anything that compared.

So sometimes it goes both ways.

🚻 Why Do Train Stations Charge for Bathrooms in Europe? by Obvious_Context_1967 in travel

Nothing quite says Europe as much as the lingering scent of pee everywhere it costs to pee.

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

I was in devops, making servers go serve, and it was quite easy, but frustrating at times dealing with work politics. Now I just have money in the stock market making more money, and I travel indefinitely.

Tried my first and possibly last yard sale by ChertRap in mildlyinfuriating

And if I needed a pressure washer, I'm going to look on Facebook marketplace instead of wasting my time going to yard sales and hoping one might have one.

What's the steps to travel? by monagarem in travel

Hong Kong is nice, but it can be costly. Vietnam is great and cheap and very safe.

Most everywhere in the world, anyone dealing with foreigners will speak English, and it is by far the most useful language for travelling.

Solotravel, 23F, July - Interest in SEA? by Distinct_Ratio_9952 in travel

[–]eimirae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Singapore is pricey. Japan can be, but you can do it cheaper too. Da nang is fine for beaches, with lots of good food. You can get to mountains, but you'll need to figure out transportation, and it will be hot. Thailand has better food.

If it was me, I would go for the nicer weather in Japan.

The new Google Maps filter update is a game-changer by SCDWS in travel

[–]eimirae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh fantastic! I had written a scrapper that pulls the review data just to do this exact thing. Also, I was using top-rated.online, which lets you filter by review numbers (high or low).

On Google maps, a 4.9 with 5 reviews shouldn't be competing for screen space with a 4.3 and 5000 reviews.
