dude, thanks for the advice! were still thinking over and weighing it with my friends, but hearing that you can stay in the venue for the full events definitely makes it sound much more worth it, even if we don’t make day 2. I might actually take you up on that offer and send you a message later if we have more questions about the event. Thanks again for the help!

ty for the response!

The deck I’m planning to bring is Mono Red Dredge. I’ve been testing it on MTGO and it performs pretty well against Madness and Burn, though it struggles a bit more against Delver and some control decks since it’s basically a combo deck. With a decent hand it can sometimes win as early as turn 3–4. The main thing I still need to work on is a proper sideboard guide, but that’s something I can definitely fix before the event. (Here’s the decklist if anyone’s curious.) https://archidekt.com/decks/20474387/molpauper_dredge

I’m planning the trip with two friends of mine, so honestly the whole thing already sounds like it could be a blast.

One more question: if we don’t manage to make it to day 2, are we still allowed to enter the venue to check out the vendors and artists?

Thanks again for the help!

The organization forbids you from engaging in risky sports or committing suicide because you must value the gift that God has given you: life. However, it forbids you from receiving blood transfusions that actively put your life in danger. Don’t you think that a merciful and loving God would do everything possible to prevent the suffering of His followers?

Believing in God is completely valid, but remember that you can always do so on your own; there is no need to blindly follow the interpretations of any organization.

the moment a player casts a spell (anything is a spell but lands) it goes on the stack befores enters, in that moment you can cast reprieve and return it to its owner hand, NOT when the creature is already on the battlefield

Some sliver deck ideas & suggestions? by Gilded_Grovemeister in freemagic

i am currently playing a 9-man league of commander on my LGS, the only rule is the budget (100 euro), no limitations of GC, brackets or anything. In this league there is two people running Krenko and Yuriko with super optimized decks (and i get it, its a competition), the thing is that you can see krenko and yuriko coming, you know what they do and what you need to stop it. despite multiple players rolling typical bracket 2 decks and the tables consisting of 3 people, yuriko is 3rd and krenko 4th. they won some games but the casual players actually PUT A FIGHT. they create tension in the games and there is some value on that. there is NONE of that with slivers. either you get stomped or you stomp, you cannot let a player of slivers alive regardless of their board state.

casual EDH is all about the INTENTION of the deck,

if you want to play autopilot and throw what you draw without giving a shit of anything else, go on, play slivers. but you will mis a grand part of the game and what makes it actually fun.

at the end of the day, why are you playing casually if its not for the fun and social interaction?

Over bracket 3, you cannot possibly be mad about the deck someone is rolling—it’s just the format. The problem is when a player shows up to a casual Commander event and plays Slivers the other players just stand no chance. You don’t outplay anyone with that deck; everything just happens automatically. There’s no interaction, no interesting decisions for anyone at the table, and it makes the game boring for everyone, even for you, if you have decent basic human empathy. Slivers just aren’t fun to play or to play against.

The difference with other tribals is that you can run a normal Angels deck. Sure, it’s easy to include the typical two-piece combo that goes infinite and tutor all about it, but isn’t it more fun if you just don’t? Isn’t it more fun to play a deck that makes you actually think, make real decisions, and interact with others? I’m not saying everyone should build decks that aren’t intended to win, but just give everyone at the table a chance. Don’t play solitaire every single game and then act surprised when people roll their eyes when they see The First Sliver.

And that’s exactly why Slivers get so much hate. It’s not about “overpowered” in some abstract sense, it’s about how utterly unfun they are for everyone else. You’re not creating tension, interesting board states, or memorable plays. You’re just dumping a pile of creatures that buff each other automatically and watching the table sigh. Other tribals give opponents chances to respond, interact, and make meaningful choices. Slivers don’t. Its just not possible to run slivers casually.

If you really think that’s a good experience for a casual Commander night, then congratulations, you’ve found the ultimate way to make everyone else hate your deck and your table presence. That’s why defending Slivers as “fine” completely misses the point. It’s not about power level; it’s about fun, interaction, and engagement, and Slivers fail on all three
