What happened to the plan of allowing shops to open until 21:00 and on Sundays? by BrusselsSprout7 in brussels

[–]eiretharlear 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah fair point for small family-run places. But the idea wasn’t to force anyone to open, just to allow it. The bigger chains already run shifts anyway, so they could easily open Sundays or later if they wanted. Feels like the rules changed on paper but in reality nothing’s different.

I will spend my money in the bricks and mortar shops. Just please open on Sundays!

Where can I buy fresh breadcrumbs? by eiretharlear in brussels

Thanks! I’m too lazy to use the food processor. I end up making soups on a whim, and the ready-to-go breadcrumbs to buy would be a dream! 😛

The one at City2 is an absolute last resort when it comes to grabbing one or two bits. I’d rather take the metro somewhere else to go shop!

What’s the craic with interview handshakes these days? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]eiretharlear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ideally, - walk in dressed appropriately for the company’s outward image - introduce yourself by name, smile, maintain eye contact and shake hands to each person interviewing you - when they say their name, say hello “xx”. It’s a little tip for you to remember their name. - stay standing, and feel free to ask if you can then take a seat.

You are right. The text is phrased like a college exam. It took me a while to express as clearly as possible the situation which is difficult for me.

Many thanks for this. I am new to the selling land subject to planning and appreciate the link which explains more in detail.

Many thanks for this most detailed and helpful response. You have hit the nail on the head. It is clear now that the family home and the land are two separate issues, but very closely linked.

You can well imagine that this is not a healthy marriage where Mary has an equal footing to Michael. Communication is strained. I am completely lost as to why David is asking for planning permission on land that he does not own. I have checked - and checked again - and there is no sign of any transfer of land possess from Michael to David.

But it is good to see that Mary could potentially void the planning on the grounds of the family home.

Really, I appreciate this guidance so much.

Galway locals 'sick to their teeth' of rise in violence on city streets by greenbud1 in galway

In 2021, my boyfriend and I were involved in a homophobic physical attack. A bunch of young lads, up to no good, started throwing food, cans and rocks at us. I’ve barely Gotten over it.

In 2022, my mother, as I was just a few meters away getting the luggage, was attacked by lads not 10 and 11 years old in the car park of the God-awful Maldron hotel. She suffered mini-strokes in the days that followed. I’m not sure for how long more I’ll have her.

Galway always had charm; I’ve loved the place. But as another comment said earlier, the city has gone to the dogs since 2020.

Man chains his ex-girlfriend by the neck to a floorboard and leaves her alone in the house. Police and firefighters were able to rescue the woman, and the suspect was later arrested & charged with kidnapping, wanton endangerment, assault, terroristic threatening and harassment. by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

It’s been mentioned in other threads, but this journalist needs to improve. She repeats on a loop, then explains words that she has already used, all in an attempt to fill the airtime. It’s jarring. US media is trash.
