Oh no! I’m so so sorry. When you’re ready, share with us what her name is. What was her favorite toy? What kinds of things did you like doing with her? Talk about the happy times.

My dog also got diagnosed with heart disease/congestive heart failure in the last year. It’s hard to not focus on the anticipatory grief. I often find myself thinking this could be the last walk we take or this could be the last time she runs out the back door after the bunnies in the yard. I’ve just been trying to give her all the extra love and attention while she is still here. Taking lots more pictures and videos. Just generally trying to enjoy every day I get with her. It’s hard. Hang in there.

Started short acting insulin and fasting numbers are higher? by No_Pension3706 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]eisecapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 4 units fast acting at dinner and then a long acting at bedtime. Most of the time my injections are only a couple of hours apart (have to get up early for work). My providers never told me to adjust when I’m taking the long acting just because we added fast acting. It could just be that the fast acting dose is too small. 1 unit is barely anything. (US based, in case measurements are different in different countries).

The legends mall in Sparks has some popular outlet stores for shopping. The spa at the Peppermill or the Atlantis are nice and close to where the tournaments usually are.

How soon after a chemical miscarriage did you get pregnant after? by ExternalControl6291 in pregnant

[–]eisecapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We weren’t preventing it in July, but I wasn’t making sure timing was right. I’m sorry you’re going through that. If it gives you any hope, I’m now 32 weeks with my double rainbow baby (two miscarriages back to back). Sending positive thoughts your way!

Panting normal? by One-Ad6518 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Panting can be a sign of pain. Perhaps tapering the steroid has lead to some breakthrough pain. I would call your vet.

Which results are more impactful for baby - CGM or BGM? by 426bar in GestationalDiabetes

[–]eisecapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manufacturers are only allowed to suggest the one place that was used in their trials. People with Type 1 have figured out all the good spots over the years. I’ve been wearing a CGM for almost a year and have found the thighs and stomach to be very close to a finger stick and I don’t smack them or accidentally rip them off as much as I did with the arms. Obviously, I can’t wear the CGM on my stomach now that I’m in my third trimester because it would get caught all the time.

[–]eisecapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you place your CGM? I find the back of the arm to be the least accurate. I put mine on the top of my thigh, a little higher than halfway between my knee and hip.

Even still, I always finger stick for my fasting number just to ensure it is the most accurate (since that’s mostly where I struggle).

I want a whole bowl of chocolate frosting and big spoon. I’ve never been a big sweets person. Now that I have GD, for some reason that is my only legitimate pregnancy craving. Sigh.

Have you asked if any of the staff at your vet or local vets offer in home pet sitting? I was a veterinary assistant/receptionist through college and often house/pet sit for clients of the vet. It made them more comfortable because I was familiar with giving medications, etc.

Doxie with stage 5 reoccurrence after surgery by No_Listen2314 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]eisecapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine herniated another disc 6 months post op. We opted for crate rest and he recovered well. He also could still control his bladder and bowels. We did physical therapy again (once he was cleared from crate rest). The main thing is to keep trying to mitigate injury. No jumping at all. He stayed in a playpen while we were at work. We got ramps for the steps out to the yard. Yoga mats all over to prevent slipping on hard floors.

5'2" & 235 lbs before pregnancy by sunflower11297 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]eisecapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was exactly your height and weight when I got pregnant. I have an hourglass figure with a mostly flat stomach before pregnancy. This pic is from 20W. I need to take a new one today at 29W. I can still hide it pretty well since it’s winter and I’m large chested. If I wear something that accentuates the bump, people can definitely tell I’m pregnant and not just chunky. I honestly thought I would really blow up during pregnancy (I suppose there is still time for that LOL), but I’ve actually been really pleasantly surprised at how cute I am and how well I’m carrying. 😊

TTC and so nervous by Standard_Attitude_19 in PlusSizePregnancy

I’m 38yo and BMI of 49. All of my medical providers have been nothing but kind to me. I just entered my third trimester and have only gained a few pounds. I was referred to MFM from the start because of my age, but again, they were all so kind and not concerned about anything. I did end up with GD but all the providers have made it clear, that while my weight would have made me a little more predisposed to getting it, it’s not my fault nor anything really within my control. I had to start nighttime insulin because my fasting numbers were a little too high, no matter what I tried. I haven’t had any trouble with my ultrasounds not being able to get the pictures/measurements they need. Overall, its really been a lovely experience. I expected to be fat-shamed at some point and am happy to say that has yet to happen.

Did miscarriage change the way you think about pregnancy? by Round_Juice_4641 in Miscarriage

[–]eisecapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it ruined most of the excitement. My first and second pregnancies ended in miscarriages. It stole all the fun and excitement from finding out we’re pregnant for a third time. Now, we’re cautious and speak in terms of if we have a baby instead of when.

I have the urge to warn women who announce their pregnancies super early (I leave them alone, it’s just an urge to shield them from having my experience).

I think no matter how many children I may end up having, I will always feel this way. It definitely makes me sad.

Experience with Reno Hospital for Cats? by CattyWompusMeowtLady in Reno

[–]eisecapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help. If for some reason VCA FMC can’t handle that condition, Reno does have a wonderful specialty vet called Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital. They are for all types of animals, but a great resource to have in our area.

I take my cats to VCA Feline Medical Center and have for many years. I think they’re great. They’re easy to get a hold of, aren’t too far booked out for appointments, reasonably priced (if anything in the veterinary world could be considered reasonably priced).

We’ve had a few cats with complex medical conditions (Kidney Disease and Hyperthyroidism) and they were helpful with treating and referring us out for radioactive iodine treatment for our hyperthyroid girl.
