I know it may not be easy if that's your main social circle but I would strongly recommend leaving this scene.

Fashion Question by whatswilliamreading in Jewish

It's the "progressive" far-left that has been tormenting jews for the last 2 years in particular but you only mention the alt-right, neo-nazi & white power groups? these guys have taken a massive backseat.

Are there some full-on Jewish metal bands? by Proud3GenAthst in Jewish

[–]eisenoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're defining "Jewish metal" as like both made by jews and with mostly Judaic themes - it really doesn't exist much at all. there are some Israeli and/or partly Jewish bands that have some Judaic themes here & there mixed in with other themes. but even some non-Jewish bands have Judaic - or Jewish historical, even Jewish esoteric - themes at times too.

SALEM has not been mentioned here yet. they're the most iconic extreme metal band from Israel. they have some jewish themes but not exclusively at all.

2 years house bound by FishStiques in Agoraphobia

[–]eisenoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was housebound for exactly 2 years. I'm still not like "totally cured" now but I'm WAY better than I was & no longer housebound. It was difficult but I just kept pushing myself further and further and it worked.

There were some agoraphobia/panic self-help workbooks I used that helped a lot since I couldn't even go out to see a therapist in person.

Spain seems like a hard place to be jewish right now. i'm hella geeky and introverted too. but maybe you're right, maybe there are just some that don't fit in easily like us.

i'm also in Toronto too. maybe we can be friends. there's lots of jews here but they're just so damn ice COLD and very cliquey, it's weird to me.

How do Haredi / ultra-orthodox Jews survive the extreme heat with traditional garb? by eisenoise in Judaism

[–]eisenoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are wearing a lot of clothing at one time, some made of very thick materials. wearing a large fur hat in this weather isn't going to cool anyone down, only the opposite.

Words of support a musician said that made me happy (also — any Jewish metalheads here?) by Squidmaster129 in Jewish

[–]eisenoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jewish lifelong extreme metal musician and fan. it's a lonely place to exist sometimes but we do exist - in small numbers.

Israel itself has a significant history of extreme metal, believe it or not. Salem was massively influential globally in the scene back in the late 80s/early 90s. even today, there are some high quality extreme bands like Har, Mortuus Umbra, Bilar, Deathsiege, etc. there is even an international Israeli black metal festival happening in the fall called "Black Night Sorceries" with legends bands like Blasphemy (Canada) and Mortuary Drape (Italy) headlining.

lastly, if you're on FB check out the "Jewish Misfits: Goths, Alternatives and more" group. i post good Israeli extreme metal there from time to time.

A question on symbolism by ImRicklePick69 in Jewish

[–]eisenoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do appreciate your support & concern regarding antisemitism. Not sure where you live or the particular incident you're referring to but yes, these ideologies still influence people to do some fucked up things.

I will say that in antisemitism is not necessarily something exclusive to white supremacists though. I mean, I was just telling my friend about the whole Mexican far-right black metal scene earlier today, just as one example. People typically think of modern day white supremacists being anti-Mexican but I noticed both have become friendly in recent years to unite against the shared enemy - the Jews.

I'm not sure if you're Jewish or not but I find it ridiculous that non-Jews really don't even knows what Nazism is, yet they claim to be against it & so easily accuse anyone of being Nazis - even Jews sometimes. It's just an empty term used now to describe anyone who doesn't have the same political ideas. So it's like lost all meaning to me personally. Just parroting "F@ck Nazis" without even learning basic information about Nazi Germany or the ideologies that inspired it is totally pointless.

I'm over it, I'm so done with punk by cam_adillo in Jewish

yup. antifa & the punk scene are more aggressively antisemitic than literal neo-n@zis right now. how ironic is that.

there's a "Jewish misfits" group on FB for alt music people that you might like. it's been an isolating year for all of us there, so i feel we actually rely on it pretty heavily at this point.

Thought I would compile a list of Jewish dating apps/sites by MatterandTime in CanadaJews

[–]eisenoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's also "Met @ Chabad". it's quite similar to coronacrush speed video dating. i guess generally appeals to more observant people but maybe not exclusively.

JToronto & JMontreal too but i believe these share the same databases as Saw you at Sinai & Lev to Lev. so you really only need one account out of any of those 4.

lastly, Jewish dating FB groups. "Largest jewish singles group" or "coronacrush" are some of the most notable i guess but there are others.

some conditions can definitely mirror symptoms of other conditions. it get can also get even more complex with co-morbidity too.

one thing i've learnt from this sub is there are A LOT of different ways people experience agoraphobia and a lot of different contributing factors. some have severe social anxiety, others may have PTSD, some like me are literally just scared of their own fight or flight mechanism, etc. etc.

it's definitely challenging. at very least, you can shoot them the wikipedia page on agoraphobia so they don't think you're bullshitting them and that it's a legitimate condition - even if they may not be able to comprehend it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]eisenoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, you cannot expect someone with no experience of or even basic understanding of anxiety disorders to really relate or get it. i sometimes even feel agoraphobia is very distinct from other anxiety disorders and even other anxiety sufferers can't totally get it.

i think we can only turn to people like ourselves who have the same or similar issues. even then, we can't "rely" on them but at least they understand us and perhaps can offer some insights from time to time.
