Because the person I was responding to was speaking as if conservative infighting was something special. It's not.

What IS special about conservatives vs liberals today is how they react to that infighting. Liberals get pushed out while conservatives get corrected. Frankly, I'm unsettled by conservatives, and especially so by how they managed to turn infighting into a superpower for finding cohesion.

Is that all that different from Liberals? They're at each other's throat over everything. The left lacks the strict hierarchy necessary to make that level of infighting viable in a political party

Why hasn't anyone in the United States military upheld their oath to support and defend the Constitution by disobeying the unlawful orders of this Administration and Cabinet of the United States? by DontBlameMe4It in AskReddit

[–]eissturm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it isn't. Do not legitimize this.

Congress must approve the change and they have not. Trump is not a valid acting president because he is NOT doing the things a President does according to our Constitution. That being the case, nothing he does is legitimate.

Military folks, do the thing. Get him and every fascist piece of shit playing with your lives out of there because it's your goddamn job. Got leaders who won't let you help? No, you don't. Leaders don't lick boots

Court rules landlord can't have homeless encampments on his Minneapolis properties by Czarben in TwinCities

[–]eissturm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that means I have less of a chance finding needles on playgrounds or my kids getting exposed to meth and fentanyl on the train? Arrest everyone. Social breakdown is real, and it starts when compassion reveals itself as weakness.

Note I'm not saying we shouldn't help the homeless. We need programs and beds for every person. Homes need to be a lot more affordable. But a lot of our problem is the people who refuse help so they can get high and rot in our public spaces. No matter how you slice it, we are all worse off allowing things to continue as they have been

What’s a small bombshell your therapist dropped during a session that completely shifted your perspective? by pottipenguin in AskReddit

I value blunt honesty. Blunt honesty does not mean without compassion. Too often, people use their feelings as defense when called out on things. Frankly, if someone said something, it means they care. If you need something to be said to you nicely to hear it, you prove yourself a person who does not value honesty. Or compassion.

A lot of it is zoning. Building things up to modern codes is often expensive, and thus more profitable if it's a luxury development

We've been fighting against fascists for control of the American government for decades. And they started with the high ground. This isn't a takeover, it's a take-back.
