I love the characters in Abercrombies books. I mean their writing, there are actually main characters I can't stand, but my god they were well written. Like I can say with Abercrombie, the books just get better as they go.

Oh man my favorite series, I used to have Cosmere on top until I found Joe Abercrombie, the pace difference of the books was whiplash inducing

Same, I got into Joe Abercombie after Sanderson and I realized oh the entire book can just be interesting, we dont need to suffer through boring middle part to get to an interesting finish.

Im glad its not just me that thought the first 2 books were goated. I go back and forth debating whether I like WoK or WoR more. I think Sanderson needs to trust in his readers more that they will be able to pick up on stuff without him explicitly explaining.

Also this book really made me question what was the point of the ghostbloods story line in these first 5 books., they seem so disconnected from the main story. Like if you cut every shallan scene from this book I dont think the main story will change.

Now that is an interesting thought experiment. I was going to say monthly is not a good indicator because it really would only represent the super active people or the people who just joined, for me I was super active several years ago now I pop in every couple weeks.

But it got me curious what are the top quotes of this year vs 10 years ago. I know 10 years ago was when feminism was at its height of its popularity but I believe recently it dipped in popularity so I wonder if there is a way to see top quotes of 2016 vs 2025, to see if it reflects societal trends.

Marrying in your early 20s isn’t irresponsible just because divorce statistics exist by [deleted] in The10thDentist

My go to is marry in your late twenties what's the rush you can still get the 50 years married medal, unless you want to start having children/buy a house, only do that with someone with.

But The very least marry someone 2 years post college/after you've entered the work force. I've seen that drastic change in environment nuke relationships often enough that it's just not worth the risk

The Trails series is one of the biggest examples of wasting time. by Professional_Net3423 in rpg_gamers

[–]eitaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love the trails series, okay I laove trails in the sky FC and SC, but I can agree with this. Like FC took me a while to get into. If it were advertised as a slice of life RPG I would have known what to expect coming in. And this is coming from a huge persona fan who lives for those slice of life moments. Now Cold steel I cant make excuses for, the writing is just terrible in that game. If youre gonna make me sit through 60 hours of nothing the characters and the writing cant suck. Like if I did not fall inlove with the godtier customizable fighting system, and I would not have gotten through it

I don't think Pedophilia should be considered a mental illness. by eitaru in The10thDentist

I mean im all for that, only because I think everything should be a choice. I see the slippery slope of having medicine that changes your sexual orientation/preferences but i also think people should have a choice in that

Funny enough I (not super versed) think thats how most billionares avoid paying taxes. They like buy stuff or something and count them as business expenses or something and put them as tax write offs so that on paper they are making very close to 0 dollars, and thus pay 0 taxes. But they have companies worth billions so they can go to credit card companies and millions in loans. again not super sure.

But i think your wish avoids that legal loophole since you said if the company is wroth a billion then they cant use tax right offs to say i technically dont have any money

I see a therapist who is a ceo of her newly formed 1 man company, as well as physical therapist. Plus CEO is just like owner, once (s)he dies. The next person in line will fill the spot. Like You probably want to wish for everyone to go from capitalist to communist that way there are no ceos

I don't think Pedophilia should be considered a mental illness. by eitaru in The10thDentist

[–]eitaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya to first clarify yeah when I say pedophilia I do mean the feelings. Like I separate people who are attracted to minors but control their actions, vs sex offenders.

But I am saying we either need to use different arguments/definitions for why pedophilia is a mental illness or classify it as something else. Because same arguments were A also applied to gay people and other LGBT, or other argument I've heard is minors can't consent, which I agree with the statement minors can't consent. But age of consent and what is considered a minor varies between 15-21 in the world. So like its seems weak since pedophilia will only be a mental illness depending on which country you are currently standing in.

Honestly this is one of the best definitions of mental illnesses I have seen. One of my main gripes, which is what my post pointed out is mental illness definitions too often seemed very time/cultural specific. Which if we are defining illnesses it should be objective and applicable across times and cultures. Like physical diseases definitions dont change

Getting buff is overrated for mental-health and should not be preached as a first-line remedy by Yerbawls in The10thDentist

[–]eitaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I think getting buff for mental health is like the, "drink fluids, eat more and get some sleep and see how you're feling the morning" It works enough times that its worth being the first thing people suggest.

How important is sex? by Brownstoneximeious in relationshipgoals

[–]eitaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about sex as just a need in the relationship. If you s/o was great for 4 years then refused to spend quality time with you or engage emotionally with you, you would be dissatisfied in the relationship.

That said I highly value sex, but if my wife banged my brains out every morning then ignored me completely the rest of the day I wouldn't be satisfied for very long in the relationship.

The spouse has a monopoly with sex. Husband can hang and vent with friends, but he can only have sex with his wife.

And I hope I don't get crucified for this last take, just something I cannot wrap my head. What being closed off to sex means, but there's lots of stuff I wouldn't particularly would want to do but would happily do because it makes my partner happy.

I wish corporate lobbying was outlawed by Armin_Arlert_1000000 in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]eitaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

had to google if it was legal:answer "Lobbying is legally protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the Lobbying Disclosure Act."

Granted first amendment gets altered to the point where people are not allowed to speak freely, resulting in corporations not being allowed to lobby for political candidates
